Currently, the Town of Emerald Isle has a total of 4.2 miles of dedicated bicycle path along NC 58. The bicycle path extends from Coast Guard Road to Hurst Drive, and also from Ocean Drive to Eastern Ocean Regional Access. The Town of Emerald Isle NC implemented an ordinance in 2010 that requires unattended beach equipment to be removed daily, or subject to confiscation by Emerald Isle Town personnel. Exception stickers are provided for oceanfront owners from the 3000 block to the west only. This ordinance will continue into 2012. So do not leave any beach equipment unattended on the beach in Emerald Isle NC.

Golf Carts are now allowed to operate on Emerald Isle NC's streets except for NC 58 and Coast Guard Rd.
