Please Be Safe, and Respect Others' Enjoyment of the Beach Strand
The 2014-15 beach driving season begins on Monday, September 15
and continues through Thursday, April 30. Driving on the beach is
allowed by permit only, and permits will be available for sale at the
Town Administration Building beginning Wednesday, August 20.
The Town offers annual beach driving permits only, and permit fees
are $50 for Emerald Isle residents and taxpayers and $100 for all others.
(Emerald Isle residents and taxpayers over age 65 are eligible for a free permit.)

Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation’s Summer Day Camp will be hosting a Lemonade Sale to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which works hard at trying to find a cure for these most common childhood cancers. Sale will take place near the front door of the Emerald Isle Community Center on Thursday, July 3rd from 9am-5pm. Lemonade will be $1 per cup but additional donations are welcomed and appreciated! According to the National Association of Realtors' "2014 Investment & Vacation Home Buyers Survey, Vacation Homes jumped 29.7% in 2013 to an estimated 717,000 sales up from 553,000 in 2012."

The NC Rate Bureau (the entity representing NC insurance companies) is proposing yet another homeowners insurance rate increase Emerald Isle and Coastal North Carolina. The NC Rate Bureau is seeking a 35% increase in homeowners insurance rates. This is coming after the following insurance increases to the North Carolina Coastal area in the past years:
2005 - 15% rate increase APPROVED 2007 - 25% rate increase APPROVED 2009 - 17.5 % rate increase APPROVED 2013 - 19.8% rate increase APPROVED
