Go For a Hike! Arcadia Lake Edmond - 02/28/10 10:15 AM
Arcadia Lake in Edmond, Oklahoma There are so many people in Edmond that live to get out to one of the area lakes every weekend. I must admit to you, I am not one of those people. I'm not one for water sports or hanging out on the shoreline. So, even though I have lived in Edmond for more than thirteen years, I had not ventured to Arcadia Lake for more than dropping off my daughter at Girl Scout camp. Until yesterday.Yesterday, my daughter and I ventured to Arcadia Lake for a hike. What a great afternoon we had! Arcadia Lake has a (2 comments)
FSBO in Edmond? Let's Work Together to Get Your House SOLD! - 02/26/10 08:58 AM
FSBO in Edmond? Let's Work Together! There are plenty of reasons that a homeowner chooses to try and sell their house FSBO (for sale by owner) ranging from testing the market to an inability to pay for realtor fees. Some even think it will be fast and easy. Whatever your reason, as an Edmond Realtor, I respect your decision. I really do. Let's work together to get your house SOLD!How can we do that? First I have to learn about your house. To do that, I try to pick up a flyer or two from FSBOs when I am out previewing Edmond neighborhoods. (1 comments)
First you need to start with supplies. You will need boxes, paper, tape and markers. In Edmond you can get boxes from many of the truck rental companies. They are also available for sale at some of the self storage facilities and home improvement stores. After your move, remember to recycle those boxes by taking them to the Edmond Recycling Center at I-35 and Covell. Then as you begin to pack, consider the following tips;A (0 comments)
Who is Fannie Mae Anyway? - 02/24/10 10:26 AM
"Who is Fannie Mae anyway?"That's the question my clients are asking me this week. I have a seller waiting for Fannie Mae to approve a short sale and a buyer I am working with is waiting for Fannie Mae to make a decision regarding the purchase of an REO (real estate owned) property. So, when I responded speaking my native language, realestatese, "We are just waiting for a decision from Fannie Mae.", it should not have been a suprise to hear my client respond, "Who is Fannie Mae anyway?"Fannie Mae is not an individual person making these decisions. Fannie Mae is (2 comments)

New OKC Children's Zoo to Open in March - 02/19/10 08:35 AM
Yesterday was such a pretty day in Oklahoma! After all of the snow and ice, the warm sunshine and bright blue skies were a real treat! It made me start to think about fun things to do outside. When my girls were younger, one of our favorite activities was to visit the Oklahoma City Zoo! We had a family membership and would go several times a year. The membership made it an economical way for me to entertain the girls. We could go in the morning for a couple of hours then continue on to the tasks and errands of the day.The (4 comments)

Buying a Short Sale? - 02/16/10 01:32 PM
Last year I helped a great family sell their Oklahoma home as they relocated to another state. They have been searching for their next new home and may have found a house that will meet their needs. The house is listed for sale as a potential short sale. Unfamiliar with Short Sales, she wrote today with a few questions; "...we are starting to look at houses in the area of town we want to live in. We've already found one that we really like, but it's a short sale. If you have the time, will you share some wisdom with me (0 comments)
Housing Inspection Program Del City, Oklahoma - 02/15/10 03:42 PM
In today's Oklahoman, I read an interesting article by Bryan Dean about the Housing Inspection Program in Del City. It's a relatively new ordinance that requires the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy prior to a new tenant or homeowner moving into a home. Without the Certificate of Occupancy the utilities will not be transferred to the new resident.I had not heard about this new ordinance prior to reading the article today. So, I have researched a bit further and here is a bit more about the program; To obtain a Certificate of Occupancy in Del City an application must be submitted to (0 comments)

Coming Out Of The Closet - 02/07/10 09:12 PM
Remember buyers look in the closets too! Via Jeffrey Johnson (Home Staging Design Pros. Orlando Fl. 32801): Lets talk about even the smallest places and unseen spaces that need attention when prepping a house for sale. Don’t make the all too common mistake of storing all the clutter in the closets. Buyers might not say anything when they see an over flowing storage area but you can be sure it will leave an impression. Closets and storage area throughout a home are important, yet often overlooked by sellers. Buyers touring homes always look into closets, checking out the size, functionality and capacity (0 comments)
Yesterday I was out for a quick jog in my neighborhood, Park Lane Estates. It was such a treat to have the sun shining. Especially since I had not had the opportunity to get out with so much yucky weather lately! While I was out I noticed that several homes in the addition have recently been listed for sale. There are "For Sale" signs in all the usual shapes and colors. Which means there will be plenty of buyers coming into Park Lane Estates to check things out.How about an insider's view? As an Edmond Realtor and a homeowner (2 comments)
