A Haunted Circus in Edmond? - 10/30/11 11:15 AM
I originally wrote this post last November.  In celebration of Halloween tomorrow, I thought it was worthy of a replay.  Happy Halloween!
I first heard about the "Haunted Circus" in Edmond about a year ago.  My daughter was heading out there with a group of friends.  They claimed there were empty cages, trailers and more.  Honestly, at the time I didn't really think it existed.  I thought it was probably a teenage legend of sorts.  After all, if there was an abandoned circus in Edmond, I would have heard about it before them!  I figured they would have a great adventure … (0 comments)

Buying a HUD Owned Home Questions Answered - 10/28/11 09:02 PM
Yesterday I shared the news that HUD owned properties can now be purchased for as little as $100 down payment for owner occupant FHA home buyers.  Since then, I've had requests for more information.  One question I was asked several times was about qualification.  You must still meet the current FHA qualification standards.  That means you will need to have a minimum credit score of 620.  If you have had a bankruptcy, two years must have passed since the discharge date.  If you have had a foreclosure, three years must have passed. The other question I was asked today, was where … (1 comments)

Names Have Been Changed to Protect the Innocent - 10/26/11 09:38 PM
Right now I could have three more signs in the ground.  For me, signs make the phone ring.  I like my phone to ring.  So, three additional signs would be freaking fantastic.  But, no signs for me.  Why?  Because I'm too dang honest I guess. Not long ago I received a referral to list multiple properties for Baxter.  This story is absolutely true except the seller's name was not really Baxter.  I have the seller's blessing to tell his story but not his name or the addresses of the properties involved.  So, he will be Baxter.  I was pretty excited at the … (4 comments)

Edmond Students Stand Out by Giving Back - 10/26/11 12:24 PM
You may have heard how great Edmond Public Schools are in academics and athletics.  But have you heard that Edmond Public Schools also stand out in giving back?  In Edmond, each of the three high schools participate in annual student fundraisers. BALTO Week at Edmond North, Swine Week at Edmond Memorial and Double Wolf Dare Week at Edmond Santa Fe. These are not your typical school fundraisers selling wrapping paper to fund school activities.  Quite the contrary.  These are student driven fundraisers to benefit local charities. Each high school selects an individual charity to raise money for and then the three schools come … (0 comments)

Realty Reality, Really? - 10/11/11 12:42 PM
It's hard to escape the popularity of reality TV in our culture today.  When it comes to over the top shows like The Housewives of whatever town or Jersey Shore, the fact that it's actually pretty far from our reality is obvious to most of us.  Right?  But what about some of the other reality TV?  What about the ever-popular real estate reality shows like Flip this House or Holmes on Homes?  Do you ever watch those?  A lot of people do.  Heck, I do.
Realty Reality TV is entertaining.  It's FUN to watch as a house is transformed from shabby to … (39 comments)

On the Relocation Circuit? Here's a Decorating Idea! - 10/09/11 02:29 PM
Corporate relocation takes employees and their families all over the country.  When I have the pleasure of assisting these folks as they move to Edmond, Oklahoma it's always interesting to hear the many places they have lived.  I've met several that lived as far away as Alaska and Russia, that's the oil business for ya'.The other day I found a decorating idea that made me think of these families I have helped over the years.  It's a picture collage of all the places you have lived.  While we've lived in Edmond for about 15 years, before that we lived all over the … (3 comments)

Identify the Clutter - 10/06/11 08:32 AM
Declutter and Depersonalize.  That's become the anthem of Realtors and Home Stagers everywhere.  When you want to sell your house you have to declutter and depersonalize.  You've heard that, right?  Depersonalizing is easy peasy, remove the personal photos.  But decluttering can be an insurmountable challenge.  You might not be able to see the forest through the trees to identify the clutter.Last night as I cruised the net, I found a list of ten questions to ask yourself if you're not sure whether something can go or not.  I think it could be pretty helpful as you prepare your house for … (2 comments)

Whether you are moving across town or across the country, there are plenty of details to keep track of.  It's easy to remember to obvious ones like scheduling the movers and setting up utilities.  But what about returning library books before you go and registering to vote in your new district?  Those are the details that can stress you out! Today I found a handy Moving Check List that I just had to share.  It puts all the tasks into manageable lists by week beginning thirty days prior to moving day.  And since every move is a bit different, it even includes … (1 comments)
