Power House City!Houston, We have NO problem! - 06/27/08 01:21 PM
To find a hot spot where soaring oil and commodity prices, and the booming economies of the developing world, are keeping cash registers ringing and construction crews fully employed, you don't have to trek to Dubai or Moscow. You need travel only as far as Houston. In May, the unemployment rate in the nation's sixth largest metropolitan area was a measly 3.8 percent. In the past year, Houston-based companies, which include 26 Fortune 500 firms, added 71,000 jobs to their payrolls. The local United Way closed out its fiscal year with a record $76.1 million in donations. At the Galleria, a (2 comments)
Romancing The Home! From Deborah Winters Chaney - 06/20/08 09:51 PM
In a competitive housing market, how do you prepare your home to elicit an "I LOVE it!" response from buyers who are touring many properties? How do you make them fall in love with your home??? The first step to an irresistible home involves the minimalist approach of "de-personalizing" so that buyers can respond to the essential features of the house without being distracted by evidence of your ownership. Personal memorabilia such as family photographs, awards and trophies, collectibles and pieces of much-loved but mismatched antique furniture must be placed in storage. Decorate your home for showing as if the buyers (2 comments)
Having seen a few things go wrong on occasion, you have to be sure you do preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
Farmers know if you grow it, the bugs will come. Their art form can pretty much predict what will arrive when, to do what damage. They spend big bucks and a lot of labor to be there before the bugs arrive with whatever it takes to defend their cash crops. After the fact killing of the little critters is not what works.
Be sure you sell in the upfront training. (0 comments)
Customer situations are fluid. Things change. On the first call of the day, a sales rep was given a "hard no" (one short of a "H--- no!"). At noon, the competitor's system came apart at the seams. The next contract went to the recipient of that morning's "hard no" by close of business on the same day. Go figure!
In order to keep in touch with "no" accounts, it is always good to regularly schedule callbacks. No one likes to say that it took three, five, or twelve years to crack (1 comments)
Houston #1 in Housing Market! - 06/15/08 09:16 PM
Among the Top 10 U.S. metro housing markets in full year 2006 (according to number of residential building permits issued), only two cities recorded year-over-year percentage increases - Houston (+14.7%) and Los Angeles (+8.7%).Houston's increase, combined with Atlanta's decrease (-6.3%), nudged Atlanta back into second place behind first-place Houston. New York, Dallas and Chicago were next in line in terms of total number of permits, although they all recorded year-over-year declines. The Los Angeles increase was entirely due to multiples (+42.1%), as single-family permits in the city declined (-19.4%). Among the top 50 U.S. metro housing markets in all of 2006 (1 comments)

Cold hard Facts! - 06/04/08 09:49 PM
Some Cold Hard Facts Thanks to the environmentalist lobby and its influence on Democratic legislators in Congress, the U.S. has, for decades, been prohibited from drilling for oil in places that we know contain billions of barrels of proven reserves. Check out this map: All of the "NO" zones are places where the U.S. , thanks to the Democratic Party, is prohibited from drilling for oil. But wait ... it gets better. *** China , Cuba , Canada and others continue to drill off our shores where US companies are not allowed to drill because of Democratic policies!Yes, that's right ...
