Interested in seeing a movie in Austin? If you're not going to see it at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, you are truly missing out. One of the city's beloved Austin originals, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas (or simply the Drafthouse, as many Austinite's call it) have been around since the late 1990s, when the first opened downtown on Colorado Street, as a second-run theater. movies: Filmmaking in Austin - 03/26/08 08:29 PM
For a long time, Austin has been considered the “Third Coast” in the film industry, with more filmmakers on the rise in Austin, and more Hollywood types coming to Austin to shoot their movies. In 2001, what started as an idea at the smoky 6th street club Casino El Camino, quickly gained steam among like-minded women of Austin, and the roller derby was reborn. Though many of those who started up the comeback hadn’t skated for decades, the gung ho spirit spawned one of Austin’s favorite new events. movies: Wanna be a Movie Extra in Austin? - 01/02/08 05:23 PM
So I get sick or writing about Austin real estate all the time. So I like to break up the monotony. So I'm only posting this in the goofing off club and some other groups. Everywhere you look in Austin it seems there is filming going on. From huge blockbuster movies like The Alamo and Miss Congeniality to network television series like Friday Night Lights, Austin has become a favorite location for directors and producers nationwide to create some of our favorite movies and television shows. Studios have fallen in love with Austin because of our abundance of talented actors
