Margaret Oscilia is a Home Stager in the Salem, Oregon area.  Not only is she a talented stager, but she has good advice too!  She has helped many sellers get their homes ready for the market and has some great insight into this buyer's market.

How are you planning to market your home for the best price and quickest sale?  You’ve heard over and over again that it’s a buyer’s market right now.  Achieving success in the selling game requires some preparation and knowing your buyers is an … (0 comments)

How to Spend An Hour and Increase Curb Appeal - 12/16/08 11:22 PM
This is a cute house, but it needed a little sprucing up to show it's best and attract a buyer.  I didn't have much money, but I had a vision.

I went plant shopping and got a great deal on a few plants at Portland Nursery.   I walked out with 3 plants for $11!  I picked up a few pansies in bloom  at Lowe's and I was on my way.
Since I love gardening, I have a plethera of plants potted up that need homes.  I brought a Rainbow Yucca flaccida, or Bright Edge Yucca,, two Kniphofia, or Red Hot Pokers, and two cpurple Heuchera, or Coral Bells.  They are small now, but … (7 comments)

The Art of Trees - 12/12/08 11:10 PM
This is a tree in a field near my home, it's located in Bellevue on Highway 18 between McMinnville and Sheridan.  The field is kiddy corner from the Lawrence Gallery, The Fresh Palate Cafe and the Bellevue Market and Oregon Wine Tasting Room.  A newcomer to the corner is Wine Country Glassworks, which I plan to visit soon.
This tree is very cool- it's actually two trees that grew side by side and work together to make one tree.  I found the image to be so compelling, I turned it into a piece of art.  I call it The Marriage Tree.  My medium … (4 comments)

Wordless Wednesday: This Rendered Me Speechless! - 12/10/08 10:04 PM
I hurried home the other night so I could grab my camera and run to the back of the property!  It just kept getting better and better and it looks like another planet when you invert it!

The Beauty and Versatility of Concrete - 12/09/08 10:31 PM
Have you ever seen polished concrete countertops?
Most concrete counters are poured in place and barely sanded, but these are poured off site and polished to a 1500-3000 grit, giving the final product a soft, smooth texture; organic and supple, yet solid and durable.

Aren't they beautiful!  Of course, I'm in cahoots with my partner who happens to be the fabricator of these specimens.  Visit his website at Cementitious Art to learn more and see more examples of his work.
The process works like this: first he takes measurements on location of your installed cabinets and figures up the design, then he … (8 comments)

Welcome to Timbertown, USA - 12/08/08 11:53 PM
Willamina is commonly referred to as Timbertown, USA.  In fact, it's advertised on the welcome sign!

Detailed information on Willamina at City-Data.com including population, graphs on demographics, real estate info (although I can help you with that!), school info and even weather charts!  Thank you also to City-data for the image I borrowed.
Although this image is much better, but my respect for art keeps me from snatching it!  Check out Aaron Lynch's website while you're there, he's a fabulous photographer and worthy of our appreciation.
There's evidence of the timber industry everywhere in Willamina and a sense of pride … (1 comments)

Holiday Spirit in Willamina, Oregon! - 12/07/08 11:03 PM
The holidays are upon us in the West Valley.  This year the Chamber of Commerce purchased new decorations and they really brought in the spirit of the season.

Willamina kicked off the season with their annual Light Parade on Saturday, December 6th, 2008.
Full of fun floats and cherished by the community, this is a great event!  You can really feel the small town charm of this quaint community.

Floats from local businesses like Skyberg's Hardware, The Wildwood Hotel and Eddy's Trucking rode alongside churches, children and people just wanting to have fun!  We even saw a sheep … (3 comments)
