This year's Georgia Mountain Fair marks it's 60th ANNIVERSARY! This means this wonderful event is providing fun, food, and entertainment to a third generation of fair-goers. The fair starts this coming Wednesday, July 21, and runs through July 31st. This year's musical acts include Roy Clark, Brenda Lee, the Bellamy Brothers, and Ray Price, to name but a few. Sunday, July 25, will feature a day of inspirational artists including The McKamey's and The Primitives. Admission to the fair is only $9 per person, $8 on Customer Appreciation Day, July 28th. Today begins Stage 5 of the Tour de Georgia, the longest and most challenging legs of the tour. This stage will cover 133.4 miles through the most rigorous-and most beautiful-terrain on the tour, the mountains of North Georgia. Cyclists will make three epic ascents today: Burnt Mountain, Woody Gap and Crown Mountain, before making the mother of all ascents, Brasstown Bald. Brasstown Bald, in Hiawassee, is Georgia's highest peak, rising 4,784 feet above sea level and has awe-inspiring views of four states. Knocking conventional wisdom on its ear, home prices in the North Georgia mountain real estate market during 2007--with the exception of Gilmer County--continue a trend upward, albeit not at the rate we saw in 2004 and 2005. I did a year-to-year comparison of residential sales in 2006 and 2007. The results were interesting, to say the least. Despite an overall decline of nearly 28% in number of units sold--and an absorption rate averaging 21 months--prices held steady and, remarkably, in Fannin County prices leaped by 14% in 2007! I analyzed sales data for the North Georgia market overall (Gilmer, Fannin, Union and Towns counties combined), as well as each
