The weather today in Bremerton and Silverdale was absolutely gorgeous! Sunny and warm, it was a real treat in Kitsap County, especially considering that it is February.
Like many other residents of Central Kitsap, the members of the Central Kitsap Fire Department took advantage of the weather, practicing some of their life-saving and fire-fighting skills at the Meadowdale Fire Station, CKFD Station 41. The Meadowdale Fire Station has a three-story training tower and is home to one of eleven new fire engines in Central Kitsap.

Another excellent question from a client today! "Should I sign a Buyer Agency Agreement?"
The answer is - Probably, but it depends.....
First, remember that Agency rules differ from state to state, so if you are not buying a home in Washington State, Bremerton, Port Orchard, Silverdale, Poulsbo or surrounding areas, you will need to clarify agency laws in your state.

You'd be amazed at how many people never ask....
Actually, it's a great system for Buyers. When a Seller lists his property with an agent, he agrees to pay the real estate agent a certain percentage of the sales price. The Seller's agent then puts the property in an enormous database, which is called the Northwest Multiple Listing Service in Kitsap County real estate lingo. The listed home is then available for other real estate agents to access and show to potential buyers.

Earlier this week, The Kitsap Sun newspaper ran a story regarding a new Lowe's store, slated to open in Silverdale at the corner of Myhre and Mickleberry roads toward the end of the year.
Will this Lowe's store be a success? There is already a large Home Depot store in Silverdale, while just a few miles south, a Lowe's store already exists in East Bremerton. Home Depot just opened a new store in Poulsbo in 2006, and Lowe's just opened a store in Port Orchard on Sedgwick Road. Plus, Home Depot already has plans for another store in Port Orchard.

Military Appreciation Day at Kitsap Mall is scheduled for next Saturday, March 29, 2008. This annual event, sponsored by Kitsap Mall, the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce, and local military installations, is a salute to our military men and women as well as their families.
Local businesses will be on hand offering demonstrations of their products, as well as discounts and specials. Many military divisions will also be showcased. Entertainment includes NJROTC drill units, Navy EOD divers, Navy Working Dogs, and performances by Navy Band Northwest. Famous Dave's, the largest barbecue franchise in the nation, has opened a restaurant in Silverdale! The grand opening was today, March 17, 2008, at 3276 NW Plaza Road, between Pier One Imports and Target.

The Christmas hoopla is over. Time to take the lights down, pack away the ornaments, put away the inflatable "Frosty" lawn spectacle (or, in my family's case, the Home Depot and Lowe's cars currently racing across our front lawn), and make your home look a little less glitzy.
Now, what to do with the tree? Let's face it -- we live in the Pacific Northwest. Most of us have real Christmas trees. Some of us even cut our own. Seems a shame to waste them.

Ways to Spend the Winter
I've lived in the Pacific Northwest for 16 of the last 20 years of my life. I should be used to the winter weather by now. Problem is, it isn't just winter weather. It's winter, spring and fall weather. It's nine-months-of-the-year weather. It's cold-and-damp, what-will-we-do-inside-again-today weather.
Don't get me wrong, summer more than makes up for the wet months. It's glorious and beautiful and, well, perfect. But ugh, the gray skies that come in October!

The newest addition to the Kitsap Mall in Silverdale is getting ready to open its doors to the public!
Kohl's Department Store will have its Grand Opening on November 14, 2007. Kohl's offers quality name-brand items at great values. The store carries everything from fashion, jewelry and cosmetics to kitchen decor and toys.
According to a recent news article, the store opening will add approximately 150 jobs to the area.
