Usually in the Springtime I plant both of my planters in front of my house with flowers but upon closer examination of my planters I saw a little clump of twigs. It was a tightly formed circle and inside were 5 little blue eggs. I couldn't disturb this hardworking Mom so I just waited. It was easy to watch the goings on as I hid behind the window at my front door and watched the mother sitting on her soon to be brood undetected. Wrightsville Beach, NC - White Sand being DREDGED for the BEACH YES WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH - will have sand this year. The dredging boats and barges are working overtime in the channel pumping sand up from the channel and piping it to the pristine beaches of Wrightsville and Masonboro Island. THis is a very expensive proposition for the government and state but totally worth it as our tourists certainly expect the gorgeous white sand of Wrightsville to be there when they want to sun in it, play in it and relax on it. This weekend while showing property at Carolina and Kure Beaches I noticed the huge waves rolling in. These strong waves are certainly affecting our beaches. They erode away our precious sand which brings tourists and homebuyers to SE NC. However we are certainly lucky that the US Government and the state of North Carolina are involved in providing $ 22 million to dredge and renourish sand on the beaches of Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Masonboro Islands. The RIDES are finally here in Carolina Beach NC and will open today at 4 pm with a ribbon cutting. There will be fireworks also tonite and free movies Sunday night at the Lake.
The ORANGE street festival is tomorrow on Orange Street with all kinds of vendors - arts and crafts for sale along the street.
There is another sailing ship docked in Downtown Wilmington for people to explore.

While down at the Wrightsville Beach today i noticed a lot of work going on. Nor'easter type rain events are brutal on our east facing beaches. Wrightsville Beach was one of those beaches that lost the lower part of its sand banks in the storm. This creates cliffs called escarpments. These are around 3- 4 foot embankments on the side of the beach. It is hard, therefore, for anyone - handicapped or otherwise to get down off these hills to get to the beach.
