Federal homebuyer tax credit - 06/30/10 10:30 AM
In a 409-5 vote, House lawmakers have passed a standalone bill that would extend for three months Wednesday's deadline for closing on a home purchase in order to claim the federal homebuyer tax credit.
The Senate could vote on the bill, HR 5623, as soon as today.
Keep your fingers crossed and hope this goes. There are many buyers who are counting on this.

The Unemployment Benefits and Tax Extenders bill failed last night.

One provision everyone (in the mortgage business) was watching was the extension of the funding date for Homebuyer Tax Credit from June 30th to September 30th.

With the failure of the bill, this extension dies as well.

Without further action (which is unlikely) the tax credit will expire with fundings on June 30th (except for military service waiver).
I am hoping this will still get threw. guess we are in a wait and see mode.

home buyer tax credit closing deadline to Sept. 30 - 06/17/10 01:43 PM
The U.S. Senate voted Wednesday to extend the home buyer tax credit closing deadline to Sept. 30, giving an estimated 180,000 buyers who met the contract deadline of April 30 extra time to close the transaction.
This is great news. Please forward this to as many as possible. This will help many families.
Have a great day.

legisation to extend until September 30 - 06/14/10 04:50 PM
Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) along with Sens. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) and Chistopher Dodd (D-Conn.), the Senate Banking Committee chairman, introduced legisation to extend until September 30 the closing deadline for households who have had a contract pending since April 30. Under the program as it stands today, these households have to close on their purchase by the end of this month or else lose their eligibility for the tax credits.
This would be a great. Keep your fingers crossed.
Best regards,
Kevin Kenagy
