blogging: Lil Devil and Lil Angel-Get off the Computer - 05/18/09 10:30 AM
Have you ever had someone ask you a question that you didn't really know the answer to, so you just kind of hummed and hawed? I don't know about anyone else, but I find it takes a lot of time to keep up with everything online. I know that there are some people that spend a lot of time online, and then they write how they've had so many transactions, it just doesn't jive. Even the best multi-taskers still need to get off the computer to show houses. I was asked how some people seem to be online all day,

blogging: Active Rain: Setting Blogging goals, and achieving them :) - 03/08/09 04:37 PM
Have you ever made a personal goal that really had no relevance to anything? Back around August of 2007 I made a comment about points, and someone on here said they had given 10,000 comments. That number astounded me as I was still pretty new, and couldn't even imagine anyone commenting that many times on other people's Posts. From that day to now I made it a goal to give 10,000 comments, and to always have my comments given be more than the comments received. I have finally achieved that goal today! I am so glad that I happened to

blogging: Blogging 101- The Big Fish Usually gets eaten by the Shark - 01/26/09 11:54 AM
I'd be lying if I didn't say I like it when I get recognition for my writing, only if it's good that is. And I believe all of us like recognition. So how would you feel if you wrote a Post and it got Featured not once, but several times :) How would you feel if your Peers actually decided the Cream of the Crop. Quality writing stands out, Regurgitated Writing gets old fast. The Big Fish in the small pond usually gets eaten by the Shark sooner or later . A Featured Post to many is a Coveted Prize by it's very

blogging: Blogs: Myths, Lessons, and Reflections ~ And I still don't like you - 01/01/09 05:27 PM
I have just spent the first couple hours of 09 reflecting on the good from last year and all the idiosyncrasies that occurred from my Active Rain Blogging. After over a year and a half I learned some things yesterday that made me think. And think I did...Who Follows us, and why? Why do they choose your Blog to read, especially if you don't have one of those glaring Subscribe to me buttons, and they have to actually make some effort to do so :) This Post might just have a little bit of

blogging: Active Rain: Love what you do and do what you love - 12/18/08 01:19 PM
"We don't have to be #1.....all we have to do is keep writing ....add a few more articles, some pictures, Market Conditions, and Neighborhood News. We just have to be consistent, and real.....that is what will get our Blog read." I am in the midst of judging one of the hardest contests I've been involved with to date, just as my Points rolled over the 200,000 mark. I find it very apropos that I am giving back just as I passed this magic number, as that has been the mark of my time on Active Rain....giving back to the Community.

blogging: Good People deserve to be recognized-this one's for Todd Clark of Beaverton Oregon - 10/31/08 01:29 PM
If I was in charge, and boy are you guys lucky I'm not....but if I was I would give a Group Award to Real Estate Agent Todd Clark of Beaverton, Oregon. Todd joined the e-PRO Group after we resurrected it in August of 07. Since the day he joined the Group, October 27,2007, he has been a consistent supporter. I wish more of the Group was like Todd, but then again no one is like Todd :) We don't have any awards to give, but to Honor Todd I have put his latest Posts on the e-PRO Dashboard. He

blogging: Monday Morning - Unexpected Rewards/Gifts from Blogging - 10/20/08 04:30 PM
Today is Monday.....yea yea I know many of you don't like Mondays, and I read on Twitter that my friend Nannette Saunders isn't liking her Monday so far. Ahh a normal person, that actually has a bad day every now and then :) But on the flip side, I sent out a request for someone in Florida....and another friend Audrey June-Forshey called me with the name and number of a great resource down there. She had already made a call....now how great is that? So, my Monday has already started with some of the unexpected rewards from Blogging.

blogging: Show You Care....Thanks Twitter and ActiveRain for being Good Global Neighbors - 10/04/08 07:29 PM
Social Media...we keep reading how blogging is good for business, and for networking. As a member of Active Rain, whether new or old, we have learned what it means to be a part of a community, something bigger than just ourselves. As a member of Twitter we have expanded ourselves even more......to that big outside world of the Internet. Well, both Twitter and Active Rain are being called upon to be even larger members of the Global Community of Humanity. All of us are being asked to participate in Blog Action Day 2008. And both Twitter and Active Rain are participating....here's how you

blogging: Blogging Profiles that are sure to bring a laugh.....:) - 09/12/08 08:34 PM
I wrote a Post the other day and told you that I had been laughing for over 1/2 an hour, which is true. And although this is long, it is a quick, no brain-er...(I hope), and sure to bring a laugh :) Think of how many times do we set-up Profiles for various Social Networking or Blogging sites? Name, e-mail, occupation, you know the normal stuff......normal for most of us that is. What would you do if you had Fields and choices on your Profile like these.....And people say only in America.....LOL :) While I was setting up a new Blog , I was filling

blogging: Time Management and Blogging.....I don't want to wait till 6 to share a laugh - 09/10/08 12:56 PM
It's almost 10:30am CA time, and I have been laughing for over half an hour, and want to share my new discoveries with you.....but I can't. At least not till after 6 tonight. You see I have a new Time Management Agenda, made last night after reading Clair C's Post The Importance of Having a Routine. Whatever happened to being a FREE SPIRIT :) I changed out my new pretty pictures I had for something that would keep me focused, but I didn't expect to have so much fun on-line this morning and not be able to share it. But

blogging: How Could I be so Dumb......Blogging 101 Faux Pas - 08/27/08 12:29 AM
How could I be so dumb? I really can't believe after a year and a half that I just now figured out, or found out, that I never subscribed to you... darn buttons again. Anyway, after reading something I went to my sidebar where my Subscribed List is, and lo and behold you weren't there? Where are you? How many times have you read someone and hit their Subscribe Button....not the one on the bottom of their Post, but the one on the Right above their picture? That's one way to be able to read your favorite Blogger. But the other

blogging: Monday Morning...a simple gift....Friends - 08/25/08 02:22 PM
No matter what job we have, no matter how many social networks we belong to, it's all about relationships. Who are your friends? Who's on your Subscribed List...Do you even know most of these people? Today think of what makes a Friend....either online or off. Today let at least one of your Friends know you care. Life is too short to not let people know they are important. Today....that might be all we have. So today I would like to Introduce someone that consistently contributes to Active Rain although I rarely see many comments on her Blog. I have written

blogging: My 200th Post........Trials of Changing Internet Browsers to Firefox - 07/04/08 02:08 PM
Some days I just feel old, but thankfully most days I have a lot of energy, and am willing to learn new things. Trying them, on the other hand takes a lot of trust, and knowing that there is a learning curve, which of course for me means frustration, causes indecision. Well I finally listened to The Blog Artist marti garaughty , and am using the Firefox Internet Browser. When I first downloaded Mozilla Firefox , I wasn't sure if my poor little tablet had enough memory for everything. Any new technology can be like pulling teeth trying to

blogging: Blogging with a Heart.....Will we remember you when you're gone - 06/26/08 05:50 PM
This is a social network, and many of us also belong to other social networks, chat rooms, etc. where we meet people that we call "friends". But what happens when that friend leaves, or you don't read anything from them for a long time. Do you think of these "living in my computer" friends and colleagues, or is it out of sight out of mind? Today I remembered a dear AR Friend that is no longer with us. Today I have been working on several Real Estate related articles for my outside blog California Real Estate and Life. As a Veteran myself

blogging: Blogging Buddy kills 125........What!!! Turn it up Joe - 06/05/08 06:12 AM
Killing 125, why is it that we turn up the TV to hear this type of news or click on the links to read about it online? Why is it that we want to know about this awful occurence, even though it's not necessarily relatable. What happened? Who did it, and where was it? Our emotions churn and we want to know more. Add to that the number 125 and our senses are overwhelmed.....Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How....this is all we want to know. Joe Blow killed 125 people Would you take the time to read that? You bet you would. But change that headline now, get

blogging: Active Rain Gifts of Appreciation Contest ..Entries are in ~ Updated - 04/29/08 10:05 AM
This is the Official Post for the Contest entries in the Active Rain Gifts of Appreciation Contest.... I will leave it on the e-PRO Dashboard, and it will also be in the Positive Attitudes for the Weary Soul Group. That way you can find it to read the entries...see who has acknowledged who and for what. This contest is a win-win, my favorite kind of interactions whether Real Estate related or not. *** A true gift is one given without expectation of reward *** The Gifts of Appreciation Contest is being held for 2 weeks....We hope to get several entries....as this is a way

blogging: Tuesday Truths.....All of Us Judge each other rightly or wrongly..... - 04/15/08 11:28 AM
How many times have you bought something on e-bay, or anywhere else on the Internet, but once you received it you were disappointed - it wasn't really what you thought it was. Think about our jobs, our clients, the homes we list, finance, sell, everything we do including blogging here on Active Rain. How many times have you been disappointed? For Today's Tuesday Truths I have decided to repost something I wrote many months ago.......I think it is as Relevant today as it was then, maybe even more so. I have often wondered why someone would write some of the things they do, or

blogging: Tuesday Truths....... - 02/26/08 12:02 PM
As I am about to start my day a few things just popped into my head. So I grabbed th ole' Agenda, and as the coffee was brewing, I jotted down a few things that were crowding my Mind. And one of them was a way to Organize what I am doing here on my Blog, both here on Active Rain, and the outside one. Anyway, let me backtrack a bit......since today is Tuesday Truths. For the past several months I have been barely managing to keep a consistent Positive Attitude. I would get very depressed, and not do some of the things I

blogging: Are your Profile, Blog, and Comments helping you or hurting you......... - 09/01/07 06:45 PM
How many times have you bought something on e-bay, or anywhere else on the Internet, but once you received it you were disappointed - it wasn't really what you thought it was. Maybe the picture showed it larger. Or the description embellished the attributes, maybe there wasn't a picture at all, just the items description. For whatever reason you aren't happy. Our Presence here, on Active Rain, does the same thing : Look at the 2 Packages below. Which one do you like the best, and why? What if there was a card telling you what was inside......would that make a difference? What happens when we hire people

blogging: Blogging Expectations - 08/05/07 01:49 PM
When you write a Post to your Blog what are your expectations? A Post takes time to write, time to edit for spelling and grammar errors, maybe find an appropriate photo or other graphic, and hopefully the content is either entertaining, educational, or inspirational, or possibly all of these. Now that you have it written, you go back and make sure you haven't intentionally offended anyone, and then Post it.....but what if your intention was to write about one thing yet everyone else picked up on something different. What was your expectation? I just finished commenting on my last Post Baby Boomers and Technology Without our "Cheaters."..... and
