Hennepin County just celebrated its 160th Birthday on March 6th. The Minnesota Territorial Legislature established the county of Hennepin in 1852. Things have changed greatly since the establishment of Hennepin County, and there is plenty of history to be handed down from generation to generation. In 1852 things were done quite differently. John H. Stevens served as the first board clerk and would hold county board meetings in the parlor of his home, and diligently took detailed notes by hand. A new city program put into place will make it easier for residents of Edina to go green in their home. The Edina City Council unanimously adopted the Edina Emerald Energy Program earlier this month. The program will make Edina the first city in the state to take advantage of the Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) legislation.This program was approved by the state Legislation in 2010 and it allows for homeowners to have the cost of energy efficiency and conservation improvements assessed to their property and paid alongside property taxes.
