things to do in coeur d alene: Coeur d'Alene Local Writers Competition - A 22 Year Tradition and I'm in like Flynn! - 02/01/10 01:13 PM

When I had initially written the entry "Creative Calisthenics for the Nerd in Me," I wasn't sure if I'd be able to procure one of the 20 spots for the writer's workshop (in its first year) that accompanies this year's Coeur d'Alene Local Writers Competition (in its 22nd year).  However, I'm happy to announce that my name is on the list and I'll be putting some polish to my prose.
I want to thank all those who have been following ilovecda.com on FACEBOOK and TWITTER.  You guys are the greatest and I'm having so much fun, I can hardly believe … (0 comments)

things to do in coeur d alene: City of Coeur d'Alene to offer Co-ed Adult Dodgeball League - Bring on the Fun!!! - 02/01/10 12:47 PM

Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and ... Dodge!
As if a bunch of kids running around their grammar school gym ducking dodgeballs and trying to avoid bloody noses wasn't enough, the City of Coeur d'Alene is going to be offering an Adult Co-ed Dodgeball League.  Yahoo!  Can you tell I'm just a little excited?
This local fascination began a few months ago when the City of Post Falls offered a tournament and the turnout was stellar to say the least.  Yours truly participated in said tournament and I didn't know it was actually legal for grown adults to have this much … (2 comments)

things to do in coeur d alene: Things to do in and around Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - 01/13/10 01:52 PM

If you have spent any time and pa-roozed the many sites about Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, you have noticed (like me) the many, many calendars of "Things to do" that all claim to be "the one place" where you can find it all. Hog wash. There are so many interesting things to do in and around our community that I find it hard to believe any "one" site can claim to have it all.
Even this one. I mean, come on! ilovecda.com is my personal blog. If you dig me and my sarcastic tone, you'll come back. If you don't, … (0 comments)

New local blog taking Coeur d'Alene by storm!
There's a new local blog called ilovecda.com and in it's short time on the web, it has managed to collect quite a following.  In a few short months it has managed to amass almost 500 fans on Facebook (without any paid advertising) and has regular visitors that peruse (aka: pa-rooze) the site and it's many photos of people, places and dogs around Coeur d'Alene.

The author likes to mention that ilovecda.com is written by a local, for locals and is about "Life in Coeur d'Alene".  She's witty, sarcastic and doesn't refer to her family … (2 comments)

Fork-in-Cork Award-Winners: North Idaho - LOCALISM
Idaho Cuisine magazine has recently published their "Fork-in-Cork Award-Winners" for the North Idaho Edition.  This coveted award is given to area restaurants, bistros, coffee houses and wine bars that stand out with great service, great food and great atmosphere.
And, because Kevin and I have dinned in some of the best restaurants in the country and entertain clients about 2-3 times a week at local area restaurants, bistros, coffee houses and wine bars, I feel I am qualified to render my opinion on the local offerings.

Holiday Light Show: Lighting the Sky Above Coeur d'Alene

The Coeur d'Alene Resort Holiday Light Show has become a tradition for many families in North Idaho and Eastern Washington.  My family is no exception.
Every year the event, which always falls on the Friday after Thanksgiving, draws more and more people.  Last year the ever popular ABC morning news show Good Morning America featured it as one of the best in the nation.  I couldn't agree more!
Imagine beautiful Coeur d'Alene and downtown Sherman Avenue lit up with over 1.5 million twinkling Christmas lights ..... add Santa ..... add Christmas carolers ..... … (0 comments)

things to do in coeur d alene: Holy Halloween, Batman! - 11/03/08 04:53 PM
Holy Halloween, Batman!
Well, they did it again this year!  The Coeur d'Alene Downtown Association pulled it off!
What a great time for family and friends.

The streets were crowded with little girls and boys dressed in their Halloween finest.  You couldn't turn around without knocking elbows with someone you knew with friendly smiles and open arms to greet you.
Ok, that's a lie!  I would guess about 150 screaming kids, pumped up on sugar, running with their frantic parents in tow.  You would try to stop and greet, do the polite thing, you know:
"Nice to see you.""Oh what a … (5 comments)

Community Roots - A Worthy Cause in North Idaho: Feeding the Hungry
Alright, I have to admit, I blog a lot about Community Roots.  They aren't real estate related.  They have nothing to do with finance.  But, they are equally important to me and dear to my heart.
Community Roots is a small organization, started by my baby sister (sister-in-law, technically, but after 15 years, I've earned the right to call her "sister").  Two years ago she, and a very good friend of hers, decided they wanted to give back to North Idaho, Kootenai County to be precise.  They realized the … (5 comments)

Pathways to Independence Breakfast: $130,385 WORTH OF SUCCESS!
Yesterday was the First Annual "Pathways to Independence Breakfast" to benefit TESH, Inc.  I attended the benefit with a friend and colleague of mine, Cheryl Shippy of Pioneer Title.

Since I forgot my camera at home, I took the above photo with my cell phone while speaker Vickie Lesley (whose son, Zach, was diagnosed with autism at two years of age) detailed her story.  In her speech she detailed the joys and challenges of raising a special needs child.  She was informative and passionate, invoking feelings and love she has for her child.  As a … (1 comments)

Coeur d'Alene Public Library Fall Programs begin ... Sept 23 - Nov 11

Besides being one of the most beautiful public buildings I have ever seen (see photos below), the Coeur d'Alene Public Library is an institution of learning and a place for families to grow and come together.
Once every week I take my daughter to the Cd'A Library to participate in one of their numerous children's reading programs.  Since the summer session ended, however, we have been wanting for our "library fix" and have made several trips even though class was not in session.
I am happy to let you know … (0 comments)
