madison county: The Opportunity Of A Lifetime - Own A Madison County Farm - 08/12/09 05:52 PM
It's not everyday an opportunity like this presents itself.  Here in Madison County, farms are usually passed down from generation to generation and they rarely come available for public sale - that's why this is such a rare event.
With 176 +/- acres, this farm offers flexible options for the new owner.  Either work the land yourself or tap into the income potential of leasing the land.  Currently the 140 tillable acres are leased for a monthly rate.  The 30 acre fenced pasture is also rented month-to-month and is suitable for cattle.
Other features of this property include:
2,100 sq ft … (1 comments)

madison county: Why I Love Living in St. Louis' Illinois Suburbs - 09/30/08 09:17 PM
When I was growing up as a young kid in Alton, I loved every minute of it.  Every September my parents would take me to the Alton Expo downtown on the river. In October we'd head to Grafton to pick out the perfect Halloween pumpkin.  The fun didn't stop in winter, spring or summer either.  I may not have grown-up in the country, but small town values were instilled in me none the less.
At the age of fourteen, my parents move from Alton to a small town about 30 minutes north east called Bunker Hill.  I graduated from Bunker Hill High School (Go … (2 comments)

madison county: Eye Candy On A Saturday Morning - 09/13/08 11:19 AM
I went for a drive this morning to place directional signs out for my new listing in Brighton.  Along the way, I decided to stop and a take a few minutes to enjoy some of the great scenery along the Madison/Macoupin County line.  Unfortunately, the only camera I had with me was on my cell phone, so the pictures aren't the best quality.
These great yellow and white flowers are all over the sides of the roads in the country.

madison county: A Great Little "Hole-In-The-Wall" - 09/10/08 09:42 PM
Living most of my life in northern Madison County, I frequent a lot of the smaller towns that our area has to offer.
My parents live right on the Madison County/Macoupin County line.  Pick just about any Friday night, and you can find us The Prairietown Inn.  Or, as we affectionately call it - PTI.
A few years ago, the PTI was bought by Sammie.  Usually when a restaurant changes hands, the quality goes down.  Not this time.  This is one of those little bars that relies strictly on word-of-mouth.  In fact, the bar is on the main level of an old house.  … (1 comments)

madison county: Ciao Alimento! The Collinsville Italian Fest Is Coming! - 08/27/08 07:43 PM

Less than 22 days until one of my favorite Madison County Traditions - The Italian Fest in the heart of downtown Collinsville.
Every year, folks from all over Madison County (and some from St. Louis, too) pack the streets of downtown Collinsville for a taste of Italy.  From traditional favorites like spaghetti and meatballs, to local inventions like toasted ravioli, there is something to please any palette.
The Italian Fest originally started in 1984 as a Columbus Day celebration for downtown business owners.  Since then, the yearly treat has expanded to include entertainment, 5k walk-runs, wine making contests and more.
