home loan: Do you want to close, or tell you what you want to hear? - 09/14/07 09:37 PM
When shopping around for a mortgage rate and program, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Just like anything else. By fault I analysis everything. When I have a client that is looking to refinance or purchase a home, with an unusual situation I will try to come up with every possible situation or problem that could occur. I don't have a problem with a client shopping me with another company, but sometimes I find that they return with off the wall information. Sometimes programs that no longer exist are offered by other lenders, or rates that are untouchable by any lender. This

home loan: Mortgage Lender in Illinois asks ~ Do you want a pre approval or pre qualification? - 06/26/07 11:39 PM
Do you want a pre approval or a pre qualification? What's the difference? A pre qualification will tell the Realtor that you have talked with a mortgage lender, given your income, current debt information and how much you will be using for down payment. The seller of a home you may be interested in purchasing, would prefer you to be pre approved. A pre approval will tell the Realtor and the seller that you have provided much more than just the basics. A pre approval should require you to provide documentation and the approval from you to pull a current credit

home loan: Mortgage Lenders and Realtors ~ Are you in love? - 06/21/07 02:00 PM
Today driving into the office I was thinking about my job as a mortgage specialist, loan officer, loan originator, mortgage lender....whatever title I have been introduced as. I began to realize, as I have many other times during my 10 years of doing my job, how much I LOVE MY JOB! Where else can you work to make dreams come true for a family? Where else can you help someone lower monthly payments so that they can keep their heads above water, or get them some extra cash to help pay for college, go on a dream vacation, buy a car etc?

home loan: MORTGAGE LENDER WARNS BUYER BEWARE! - 06/21/07 12:14 AM
Our current mortgage company along with many other mortgage companies these days are working hard at getting our business by way of a refinance or home equity loan. I have opted out so the amount of mail has really slowed down as well as the phone calls due to putting our number on the do not call registry. However, the other day we received a phone call from our current mortgage company, my husband took the call and informed the man on the other end that I was a mortgage lender and that I would take care of financing. The next

home loan: Illinois Mortgage Lender asks ~~ Home equity vs HELOC whats the difference? - 06/13/07 12:11 AM
Recently I have received a huge increase in the number of requests for home equity loans. Home equity loans are great for a number of reasons. With a home equity loan you can payoff current credit card debt, purchase a car, send a child to college, do home improvements, or just simply get a line of credit for emergency. There are differences between a home equity loan and a home equity line of credit. A home equity loan is a loan created by using the some or all of the equity in the home, creating a 2nd lien on the property. With

I am a licensed Loan Originator in the state of Illinois. What does that mean? What this means is that I have had a background check, my credit pulled, completed and passed an exam, and have had at least 6 hours of continuing education each year. I am regulated by the state of Illinois. I have been given this license by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Does your lender have the credentials to originate your loan in the state of Illinois? Check out the IDFPR web site for the license information of your mortgage lender. If you are looking for a

home loan: Testing the Illinois Mortgage Lender - 06/07/07 10:50 PM
While in the office today the receptionist asked if I would help a man on the phone looking for a loan officer. She told me that when asked if he had a loan in process, he gave her a very firm, "that is none of your business". I expected my conversation with this man to be interesting but not as difficult as it turned out to be. Below is a shortened version of the conversation: Me: This is Kim, can I help you Caller: Can you give me your definition of Affordable Housing? Me: That is a general question; I can give you the
