mortgage: An employee at Countrywide sold my information! - 09/10/08 12:02 PM
Yesterday afternoon in the mail was a letter addressed to my husband from Countrywide.  The envelope stamped important information about your account.  I typically just shred this because its advertisement to refinance or take a home equity loan.  But I opened it this time and the letter reads:
"We are writing to inform you that we recently became aware that a Countrywide employee (now former) may have sold unauthorized personal information about you to a third party.  Based on a joint investigation conducted by Countrywide and law enforcement authorities, it was determined that the customer information involved in this incident included … (23 comments)

mortgage: Where does the time go? - 08/15/08 11:36 PM
The last time I blogged was November 2007.  I can't believe I have been out of the rain that long.  I've missed it!
Many changes have happened in the mortgage industry since November.  Stated loans were still around and so were about 40 other big lenders.  I feel like I'm talking about way back in the day and in reality major changes have happened in the last 9 months.  I think I love the mortgage industry just as much today as the day I started 11 years ago.  1st time Home Buyers are still my passion.  Dispelling the rumors of the … (19 comments)

mortgage: Lombard Mortgage Lender helps you pay less interest on your loan - 07/09/07 12:06 AM
Paying less interest on your mortgage is easier than you think!
If you were to make every payment on your mortgage without adding any extra to the principal your loan would look like this:
Loan amount                                  $250,000.00
Interest 6.5% (30 yrs)
Monthly payment  P/I                         $1,580.17
Total interest paid over 30 years       $318,861.22
If you were to make just one extra payment a year of 1580.00 in one lump sum or divide it over the months towards the principal for 30 years this is what you would save:
Loan amount                                  $250,000.00
Interest 6.5% (30 yrs)
Monthly payment P/I                           $1580.17
Extra payment every year                     $1580.00 (or 131.66 each month)
Total interest paid over … (10 comments)

mortgage: Mortgage Lenders ~ where are you for closing? - 07/02/07 11:03 PM
Does your mortgage lender attend your closing?
As I walk into the title company and ask for directions to the room the closing is happening in, I am usually asked if I am the agent or the attorney.  No, I am from the mortgage company.
As everyone arrives, I introduce myself, Kim Murphy, 1st Advantage Mortgage ~ nice to meet you!
The response from the sellers attorney and the sellers agent is almost always, from the mortgage company?
"We don't see that very often"
I greet my buyers with a big smile and get a bigger smile in return!  They know they are going to be ok!

mortgage: You did what? - 06/05/07 12:29 AM

Late last week I received a call from my favorite Realtors Rick and Lynn Orze about a client they were working with.  Their client, Norine was not working with anyone for her mortgage yet, but was going to be calling a few different mortgage specialist for information.
Norine called me on Friday morning, I gave her the information she was looking for and she told me she had put in the offer on a home and was just waiting for the confirmation that the house was hers.  We agreed to talk later.
I received a call from Rick Orze and Norine … (22 comments)

mortgage: What would you do with an extra $5000 - 05/25/07 02:22 AM
One option is to pre pay your home.  But how will you do that?  Will you just apply the extra $5000 toward your mortgage? If you have a mortgage of $300,000 at 6% and you paid one lump sum of $5000 to the principal you would pay your mortgage off 12 months early.  You could also take the same $5000 and deposit it in a savings account.  Assuming you are earning 5%.  Put $250.00 a year in interest towards the principal. Your mortgage is paid off 7 months early.  You will still have the original savings of $5000.
The savings if you paid … (13 comments)
