It's time for "Boomsday" in Knoxville, Tennessee! - 08/29/07 04:37 PM
Labor Day weekends around the Knoxville area are also time for our annual "Boomsday" celebration.
Boomsday is a huge street fair with recent attendance exceeding 300,000 happy party goers according to Knoxville Police estimates.
Some of last year's Boomsday party goers strolling along Neyland Drive and the Tennessee River.
Boomsday starts this Sunday, September 2nd at noon and goes until around 10:00 PM after the spectacular fireworks show which is billed as the largest Labor Day fireworks display in the US.
This Labor Day is the 20th annual Boomsday for Knoxville.
In addition to the largest Labor Day fireworks show in the nation, this year's … (5 comments)

Hmmmm, our sales don't seem to "PLUNGING!" in East Tennessee - 08/27/07 09:11 AM
Reading or listening to the national news you would think the entire United States real estate industry is down the proverbial tubes.
"Lender bankruptcies", "National real estate market down", "record foreclosures", etc., etc.
Sure, there are areas where the local economy is not the greatest and there are also areas where buyers have gone into some unwise loans and unfortunately might lose their homes, but there are also lots of bright spots in the real estate market too.
My area of Knoxville, Tennessee seems to be one of them. The graph below represents the 2nd quarter sales report for a median priced, … (5 comments)

St. Joseph do your stuff - 08/14/07 01:12 PM
UPDATE: St. Joseph is working overtime. Two days after burying the little miracle worker I have received two offers on the property, one of which is acceptable to the sellers.
PPS, the first St. Joseph statue worked so well I bought another. This new listing was on the market for 1 week, 2 offers, one of which the sellers accepted, AND a higher than normal commission rate to encourage more co-op showings.
OK, so I have this great listing I can't sell (yet) ;-)
It's below comps for the last 3 months, great neighborhood, best school district in town, move in … (22 comments)

Happy Birthday to the www - 08/09/07 03:56 PM
Did you know that August 7th was the 16th birthday of the World Wide Web (www)?
That's right, on August 7th, 1991, Sir Tim Berners-Lee sent the first message across the www/
Here's a portion of that message.
"The WWW project merges the techniques of information retrieval and hypertext to   make an easy but powerful global information system.
The project started with the philosophy that much academic information should   be freely available to anyone. It aims to allow information sharing within   internationally dispersed teams, and the dissemination of information by   support groups."

Color me confused - 08/01/07 10:18 PM
So I'm browsing through the MLS tonight searching for some homes to email a new client and all of a sudden I realize I'm getting confused about what time of year it is.

After checking the calendar and confirming today is indeed the first day of August you might understand my confusion better when you see that I'm looking at home photos like these below.
This photo with no leaves at all … (5 comments)
