east tennessee: Photo blogging the Grainger County Tomato Festival - 07/28/07 07:52 PM
About 30 miles east of Knoxville is the pleasant little town of Rutledge located in Grainger County Tennessee.
As all the local folks know in east Tennessee, Grainger County is to tomatoes what Vidalia, Georgia is to onions. Grainger County is, hands down the tomato capital of Tennessee.
To celebrate this luscious vegetable (or fruit if you prefer) the local folks hold an annual event called not surprisingly "The Grainger County Tomato Festival"
This weekend my lovely bride and I drove up to Rutledge to check it out. It was overcast and drizzly but that didn't seem to dampen the crowds; I estimate … (7 comments)

It's now officially Fall in east Tennessee.
 There are several "can't miss" signs that fall is upon us.
University of Tennessee football gamesCrisp, cool mornings & nightsThe smell of woodsmoke in the air.Leaves are just starting to turnI love fall, it's one of my favorite seasons; I also love spring & winter, but there's that 'special something' about fall.
Mother nature is preparing for her long winter sleep and you just know that after enjoying a beautiful fall season everything in nature is resting up during the winter for a glorious springtime when things come back to life with a gusto.

east tennessee: Rain rain, go away; Lynyrd Skynyrd want to rock - 09/24/06 01:34 PM
According to the unscientific rain gauge in my backyard we've received 3 1/2 inches of rain in the past 2 days.
It rained so hard yesterday afternoon the University of Tennessee football game kickoff was delayed over an hour because the ball was floating instead of bouncing. ;-)

We have some 'active rain' in East Tennessee.
