grainger county tomato festival: Photoblogging the 16th annual Grainger County Tomato Festival - 07/26/08 11:16 PM

Up the road about 30 miles east of Knoxville, Tenenssee lies Grainger County, home of some of the most famous tomatoes in the south. Tomatoes are Grainger Counties' largest cash crop producing millions of dollars in revenue yearly.
The Grainger County folks celebrate their famous crops on the last weekend in July each year with the Grainger County Tomato Festival

Lots of arts, crafts, music, food, exhibits, and displays at the Festival but tomatoes are the star of the show.
Going to the Tomato Festival has become an annual tradition at the Lee household so Saturday my lovely bride … (3 comments)

About 30 miles east of Knoxville is the pleasant little town of Rutledge located in Grainger County Tennessee.
As all the local folks know in east Tennessee, Grainger County is to tomatoes what Vidalia, Georgia is to onions. Grainger County is, hands down the tomato capital of Tennessee.
To celebrate this luscious vegetable (or fruit if you prefer) the local folks hold an annual event called not surprisingly "The Grainger County Tomato Festival"
This weekend my lovely bride and I drove up to Rutledge to check it out. It was overcast and drizzly but that didn't seem to dampen the crowds; I estimate … (7 comments)
