Today I'm still up in Nashville for the third and final day of the Tennessee Association of Realtors (TAR) Spring Conference.
Yesterday afternoon we had our Board of Directors meeing, pretty routine, no contentious issues or disasterous pending legislation.
One interesting thing we heard was an update on our new, TAR Headquarters building here in Nashville. A couple of years ago we got the proverbial "offer you can't refuse" from a developer who wanted to build a high rise "kiddy condo" development in the area of Vanderbilt University's campus where our old building was located.

Our current NAR President told consumers to call a REALTOR® if you're considering a home purchase and apparently a lot of buyers have been listening.
"The percentage of consumers surveyed who are more likely to hire a Realtor® than a real estate agent who is not a Realtor® has risen from 51 percent in 1999 (the first year of the survey) to 64 percent in 2006."

legislation: Got your 'T' shirt yet???? - 01/11/07 09:07 AM
An expression I used to hear a lot several years ago when someone asked if another person had been to the latest vaction spot, visited the latest attraction, or generally done something was: "Been there, done that, got the "T" shirt.
The same coul apply to membership in our REALTOR® organization AND participating in those organizations whether it be national, state, or local.
Just using the MLS doesn't count as participating.
The REALTOR® organization is OUR organization, NAR, our state associations, and our local associations are all membership driven organizations that exist solely for the benefit of that membership, which is all 1,369,955 of us as … (33 comments)
