Kona Fishing at its Finest - day 3 of the HIBT Tournament nets 16 Pacific Blue Marlins - 07/31/08 11:29 AM
Hard to believe 16 Blue Marlins caught in one day? and go figure the one that caught the 973lb one Tuesday, pulled even farther into the lead Wednesday with a 295 pound Blue Marlin - I think they probably have this one locked in!
So the total for the week so far is

973 pounds !!! This is the second largest fish caught in the 49 year old tournament, amazingly it was the same team, back in 1986 that reeled in the largest - 1,062.5 pounds - what are the odds?
Kona is world famous for its fishing - mostly because of its Deep Blue waters, Aloha Spirit, Warm tropical weather, and the ability to pull in a fish of this size - 5 minutes out of the harbor. It's so nice to call up some friends and get there - Private Estate Kona Coffee! It almost feels illegal, going over to their house, exchanging money for a baggy full of something! Brings back memories. :) Good thing its just 100% Kona Coffee though. There is just something cool about getting it fresh from the farm, in a freezer bag - they should almost have tours where you could pick your own cherry's, and have them roasted and sent to you. Keauhou is part of West Hawaii, also known as North Kona???? but it all blends together down Alii Drive.
After living in hawaii for more than 20 years, I finally found the most perfect place in the Hawaiian chain. In ancient time this was considered the premier place to live, due to the excellennt weather and good water. Many Kings made their homes here. Later Missionaries built churches and residences here, turning this tiny village into a small seaport. Kailua Kona, HI photos - an agent from Tennessee has posted tons of photos of the big island - What can you do about it - or should you do anything about it?
I have double sided feelings on this issue
Front side - get out of my town - let me post photos of my own area, and get recognition, and clients for my efforts.
Back side - I guess its good to have photos of my town for all to enjoy ???

June 2008 MLS market reports are in - Median Sales Price - Kona Real Estate - 07/15/08 12:23 PM
Island wide - Median Sales Price slowed 15% from June last year, with Kona showing a little more than 9% drop in Median Sales Price. Very Interesting if you looked at my last 2 reports - 38% drop in the number of sales, and 54% drop in the $ amount exchanging hands? But only a 9% drop in median price? Does that mean we are near the bottom ? Not sure, and I just called the wizardry repair shop - sat on hold for an hour - and then was told that my crystal ball is still not ready - parts are … (4 comments)

Island wide sales Volume slowed 67% from June last year, with Kona showing a little more than 54% drop in sales volume (dollar amount exchanging hands) .

Island wide sales slowed 35% from June last year, with Kona showing a little more than 38% drop in sales.
Sitting down and talking with other agents, and gathering my information - I think a big part of this drop, is the closing of 2 major airlines serving the Big Island - Aloha & ATA. Vista Waikoloa Condominium Complex, has a surprising amount of Foreclosures and Short Sales. In fact, the Association Of Apartment Owners (AOAO) has foreclosed on 7 units alone, now operating 6 of them as rental units. (according to public records - AOAO owned units - A103, A204, B105, B106, D103, E203) F201 was also recently owned by the AOAO, but foreclosed upon by the Bank, and resold to a private party.
In fact if you look at the public records, Hawaii MLS reports, that out of the last 9 sales - 4 were distressed properties, either a short sale, pre foreclosure, or foreclosure - thats nearly 50% of all … (6 comments)
