I am sure we all grow weary hearing all the bad news about the real estate market in Virginia...well....there is good news to be had. According to the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors, there was a 19.55% increase in home sales in the Greater Northern Virginia Area (Loudoun, Prince William and the greater Piedmont area) as compared to July 2007...That's great news!!!

Although sales prices have continued to drop, so have the active listings (by 7.01% from last year)....which is good news! If you are a looking to buy a home, remember when inventory dininishes, that is typically when prices start to rise...

Retro BPO's??

I do BPO's for several banks, and the other day, I got an order for a retro bpo.... What?? Yup, they wanted me to go back in time and do a bpo using comps from 2006, and they wanted me to price the home out as if it were 2006....I don't try to understand what goes on in a banks mind, but I am not sure what value a retro bpo would have....after all, all it would really show is just how much the bank is losing...but they already knew that

Do You Ask Active Rain Members For Referral Fees??

I had a lead come into my website, for another state (West Virginia) I got to talking to the woman, and I remembered..I had access to all kinds of agents, from all over the country.... here on AR.....so I told her that I could refer her to an agent, who could help her in West Virginia. I went on to AR, and I looked for an agent in her city...I did a conference call with the agent introduced them. The agent said to me "So, what about me and you?" I said, what about us? She said, do you want a referral...and I thought about it for a second..and said "No.....just remember me when you have someone in Virginia." Does it all need to be about money...or can it just be about Karma.... (should I take off my rose colored glasses now?)

I'm curious....those of you, who participated in the land rush today, how'd you fair, how did you end up? I have seen many angry emails from people who feel betrayed by Active Rain and the Land Rush...Virginia starts tomorrow...so I am curious to know what to expect...?
