sc: Sumter, SC Real Estate Market Update May 2008 - 06/10/08 02:02 PM

With 95 properties sold in Sumter County during May 2008, the number of properties sold during May is holding consistent with prior months.  With the exception of January 2008, the number of units sold in Sumter County has been between 87 and 105 units since September 2007.  I do expect to see the numbers increase slightly during June and July as we have the PCS (transfer) season upon us for Shaw Air Force Base. 
 
The monthly listings for Sumter, SC also remained near previous levels with 185 properties listed for sale during the month.  The numbers are still showing … (3 comments)

Wintergreen provides an excellent location for many people relocating to Sumter or currently living in Sumter.  Due to it location next to Shaw Air Force Base, many military call it home.  There are also many civilians who also find its location ideal.

sc: Hey Wintergreen, I want to buy your house! - 02/10/08 11:18 AM
One day last week by husband brought me in an envelope from the mail.  My name as it appears on the tax records (different last name) was on the envelope.  The envelope was also greeting card size, hand written addresses, Fantastic Four stamp and an American Flag sticker on the envelope.  Out of curiosity, I opened it to find two yellow note pad sheets folded in half. 
The pages contained a hand written letter in very neat penmanship.  The letter had my address on it and stated that they understood I owned the property based upon tax records available online.  Hey … (29 comments)

Reports from many Realtors® and loan officers in Sumter are indicating that activity is picking up.  Personally, I have watched more and more buyers driving through my neighborhood picking up fliers and looking at houses.  For buyers, it is a great time to be looking for a home.  The inventory of homes remains high, while the 30 Year Fixed rate mortgage is low. 
The January 2008 number of units sold was 69.  Comparing this with prior January units closed, 2008 fell between 2004 and 2005 numbers.  The number is down considerably from January 2006 and January 2007, but consistent with the … (1 comments)

sc: So You Want To Sell Your Sumter, SC Home? - 01/26/08 07:32 PM
Today, I was out and about showing buyers homes.  I have to admit, in the middle of showing these homes I was thinking about writing a blog!  I should be focusing on finding the home for my client and I am thinking I need to go home and write about what I was seeing and experiencing. 
First, if you want to sell your home.  DECLUTTER!  Squeezing through between furniture is not appealing to a perspective home buyer.  Seeing every surface full of candles, books, magazines, clothes and other personal items does not appeal to that home buyer either.
