Every fall Coloradans get to enjoy a different kind of gold rush, the turning of the aspen leaves. Do yourself a favor

if you are anywhere near Colorado, hop into the car and get yourself to where the aspens grow. I can assure you it will not only be worth the trip, but will lift your spirits and tickle your senses.
We found the best route to take for optimum viewing of the aspens was Highway 285 through Conifer, to Buena Vista, then onto Twin Lakes and over Independence Pass to Aspen.

I love construction sites.  It must be in my blood, my Father raised us four kids and put food on the table as a mason contractor.  He built things with concrete and brick.  He built things to last for the ages.  I fondly recall the pride showing in his eyes as he would point out the places he built.  What a feeling it must be to take something from nothing to something.
Builders do it everyday. I bet their kids take pride in them as I do in my Dad's work.  He made me proud my whole life long.

Ever wonder why things happen the way they do? I am always amazed at certain things.  For instance our new Light Rail line just opened last week.  The service is running well, but...
The Light Rail goes by the Park Meadows Mall.  It's one of the area's most popular malls, people come from miles around to visit.  The Light Rail has a stop at the County Line Station, it's even on the same side of the interstate as the mall, but you can't get to the mail from this stop.

Brian Brady has a great post  discussing the value of purchasing property that is being pitched on TV.  
Years ago a real estate development company marketed "Colorado Ranchettes" to the people of Chicago.   
 I knew because every so often I would get a call from a "ranchette owner" who wanted me to sell it or value it.  On several occasions they would provide me with the original marketing materials that had promoted them to purchase this property. The brochures depicted wonderful Colorado settings taken against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains.

This week my husband and I have been entertaining friends in the mountains.  When the friends left, we went to visit the Head Snowman of Summit County, none other than Ken Deshaies. 
I've known of Ken for a long time, he has authored books on real estate and has a terrific website.  His company is Snow Home Properties, with a wonderful slogo, "Snow Place Like Home."  Obviously Ken is a very creative guy!
