Have you ever seen the 1986 movie The Money Pit? In it, a young couple, Walter and Anna (played by Tom Hanks and Shelley Long), purchase a seemingly gorgeous house that ends up wreaking havoc on their finances, their relationship, and their sanity. I've had clients in the past become frustrated because their home didn't close on the day written in the contract. Although I always mention this when writing up or accepting an offer, I want to reiterate it here. The closing date in a real estate contract is an on or about date.
