Is it Real Estate or Workaholism? - 01/30/12 09:20 AM
Gayle Rich-Boxman writes an interesting and thought provoking post about how much time we work and when so we cross the line and become workoholics. Being Realtors, inspectors, home stagers most of us work to some degree 7 days a week.
I've been so busy I haven't had time to write a post in the last few days let alone spend time with my family. It's feast or famine and right now I'm busier than ever. If it were always like this I don't think my husband would like it. He understands balance and has no quilt relaxing or taking 2-3 vacations a year. I … (18 comments)

8 Steps to Better Blogging and SEO - 01/25/12 10:04 AM
8 Steps to Better Blogging and SEO
Follow these 8 blogging tips for better SEO ranking so your blog soars to the top of page one on  Google:
1. Keep track of your word count. A good blog should be between 300 – 500 words. Too short and you won’t have enough content, too long and not only will you lose your readers, but Google too! Seems we both have short attention spans!
2. Repeat your keywords or key phrase so they make up 1-4% of your content. This is really important for Google and other search engines to find you.

How Am I? Check My Twitter Account! - 01/22/12 10:11 AM
How Am I? Check My Twitter Account!
We all know the power of social media and its importance for online presence. That said, are we so busy working every conceivable social network that if our own family and friends want to know how we are or what we’re up to they’d have to check our Face Book page or tweets?

Have we all but forgotten there’s a real world out there with living, breathing people, adventures to be experienced, places to be explored, people to met, places to see………in person? Or are we so busy telling everyone … (36 comments)

A Quick Trip to the Caribbean - 01/20/12 08:52 AM
A Quick Trip to the Caribbean
Lately it’s been cold and gray in the Northeast and we finally reached temperatures where the ski resorts can make snow. Skiing is the only redeemable thing about the winter – that and a beautiful snow storm which I love (as long as I don’t have to drive in it!)
Now that the holidays are over and it will be a long time before I see another beach, I decided to go into my pictures and create my own little warm, beautiful summer vacation…

Martin Luther King: What You May Not Know - 01/16/12 05:31 AM
Martin Luther King – What You May Not Know
We all know who Martin Luther King, our nation’s most prominent civil rights activist, and iconic orator who took a stand on civil rights and dedicated  his life to ending racial segregation, racial discrimination through non-violent civil disobedience.
4 days after King was assassinated Congressman and Democrat, John Conyers introduced legislation to name a holiday after this great man and his unrelenting work for the civil rights movement.
It took 15 years of petitions, boycotts and public pressure from the nation’s people before being signed into law by President … (73 comments)

A Grateful Heart is a Happy Heart - 01/15/12 01:20 PM
A Grateful Heart is a Happy Heart
If this was your last day on earth would you feel like you lived a fulfilling and  meaningful life? Have you thought about the legacy you want to leave; what mark you made on the world and how you will be remembered?
At one point in my life I had to choose between having healthcare or putting oil in my tank for heat. I swore if I ever had life’s basic necessities I would never complain again.
Life did get better, a whole lot better, and I never forgot what it … (26 comments)

What Road Did You Take? Frost's Thoughts - 01/13/12 10:13 AM
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim Because it was grassy and wanted wear, Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I marked the first for another day! Yet knowing how way … (31 comments)

Budget Bathroom Staging: Before & After Photos - 01/11/12 05:45 AM
Budget Bathroom Staging: Before & After Photos
We’ve  all heard that kitchens and bathrooms sell homes…..but that doesn’t mean you have to do any renovations – you won’t get your money back. There is a much better alternative. You’d be amazed at what a little paint and added accessories can do to transform a bathroom all for under $50.00!
Painting is cheap! It’s the most cost effective way to clean and update a bathroom. Elite Staging and Redesign painted this bathroom in a cool blue/grey and added some accessories. It was easy, and yet the transformation is remarkable…

Preparing Your Kitchen When Selling: Before & After Photos - 01/10/12 08:15 AM

Preparing Your Kitchen When Selling: Before & After Photos
When most people sell their home they either have way too much clutter,  extraneous furniture and appliances out on the counter or they are stripped down to nothing but cold hardscape.
For a kitchen to show its best in person and on MLS there is a happy medium. This is a recent home staging job I did where we removed the clutter, put away most counter appliances, but added a few soft touches like some plants, a vignette, bowl of fruit and centerpiece to bring back some warmth.

Make Blogging Part of Your 2012 Business Plan - 01/08/12 10:49 AM
Make Blogging Part of Your 2012 Business Plan
I’ve read many comments and posts that talk about spending too much time on Active Rain – mostly tongue and cheek, but they say “in all jest lies some truth.”
At times I too have felt guilty because of the time I spend on Active Rain. That was until I realized that blogging regularly, if not daily is what puts my web-page at the top of page 1 on Google. For me, it’s been the best (ROI) return on investment for my time & money. I’ve received staging jobs, referrals, not … (63 comments)

Anyone who follows my blog knows I’m a huge fan of the photo program Picnik. You might say I’m a Picnik pro having used it almost every day for the last few years to tweak my personal and professional MLS/staging photos.
I already offer professional MLS photography to Realtors in my area, which is limiting.
However, I am now offering the service of taking your MLS photos and editing them for you. You can send up to 30 photos and I will take them from good to spectacular!

How to Choose a Successful, Reputable Home Stager - 01/06/12 02:33 AM

How to Choose a Successful, Reputable Home Stager
Just like any profession there are steps to follow when choosing a top-quality, ethical home stager with a proven track record.
Follow these steps BEFORE you hire a home stager:
The first thing you want to see is their portfolio of work. Make sure they have before and after photos, preferably at the same angle, but at least so you can see it’s the same room. If they don’t have before photos, it’s a big red flag and suggests it’ may not be their work. Any reputable home stager will have a … (72 comments)

Staged to Sell AND Designed to Live: Before & After Photos by a Morris County Stager - 01/02/12 09:36 AM
Stage to Sell AND Designed to live: Before & After Photos by a Morris County Stager
Why wait to fix up your home until you’re ready to sell? Why not enjoy your home for a few years before you put it on the market?
This is a redesign job for a woman who intends on selling her home in a few years. She called Elite Staging and Redesign to see what changes would be most beneficial and cost effective towards the sale of her home, and changes she could enjoy for a year or two BEFORE she sells her home.
