Dear Kristin, I have an exciting update to share with you regarding PETA's efforts to encourage the airline industry to refuse shipments of primates destined for cruel experiments. After learning that TAM and Hainan Airlines were each facilitating shipments of monkeys to laboratories in North America, PETA fired off urgent letters to each company urging it to join the growing number of airline and cargo companies that refuse to handle such shipments. Our supporters also sprang into action, and many of you sent messages to these airlines urging them to prohibit the transportation of primates for use in experiments. I am … (18 comments)

MAPPAR (The Midwest Animal and Potbellied Pig Association and Rescue) Sanctuary is losing its property due to economic conditions and is in need of placing its animals while it re-organizes with a new Board so that the mission of providing sanctuary for rescued animals may continue. Since many sanctuaries have already closed in an area where there was already a shortage of animal rescues, it is imperative that the animals get placed until another multi-species animal sanctuary can be established.

The National bagel chain Bruegger's Bakery-Cafe began using only cage-free eggs at its five bakeries in the District of Columbia and Virginia. This move expanded the company's commitment to reducing its reliance on battery cage eggs, after working with The HSUS, it instituted cage-fre egg policies in it's Wisconsin, Vermont, and Western Massachusetts locations in 2007. As more businesses like Bruegger's turn thier backs on the cruelty of confining birds in barren wire crates, battery cages will eventually become a shameful relic of the past.

I thought I should share more photos of my other two fur babies, since my orange tabby, Simba, has become quite the celebrity from some of my other posts! Paris is my female gray tabby with buff, and Maxwell is my older brown tabby man! I love them all so much! Paris and Max, like most cats, enjoy laying in warm sun beams. Remember, the camera adds 10-12 lbs, so no nasty comments on their sizes, hee hee!

animal lovers: Wonderful Animal Shelter in Waukesha, WI!!!

Millions of shelter animals are euthanized because they never found their forever home. Too many of these animals are dying because many more people are buying from breeders because they think they would find their 'perfect pet' there instead of in shelters. These shelter animals may have had a bad past, but they have so much love to give, if only given the chance! Shelters have volunteers that take their dogs out for walks, socialize the cats, interact with the small animals, but it isn't enough. They need a loving home.
