Dog Auctions and Puppy Mills are irresponsible, and inhumane!!! I have attended (and protested against) the Horst Dog Auction in Thorp, WI 5 previous times. I will be doing the same again on March 11th. Each time I go, I am disgusted, horrified and saddened at what I see. I simply can't describe it. I am ashamed that this type of treatment of animals is allowed and legal! Please join me, and many other animal lovers and activists that day. After all, we are their voice! Last Saturday, nationwide rallies at 22 Petland stores were held. Most people are terribly disappointed that Petland continues to try to hide behind false claims. HSUS's eight-month investigation exposed the chain as the nation’s largest retail supporter of puppy mills. HSUS investigators visited 21 Petland stores, traced the origins of about 17,000 puppies shipped to the stores, and visited many of Petland’s breeders and suppliers, discovering appalling conditions. This past Saturday, 12/20/08, it was National Protest Puppy Mill Day. I am an active member of wwww.nowisconsinpuppymills.com. About 20 of us from the area stood for 4 hours in bitterly cold weather to try and bring awareness to this horrible situation, not only in Wisconsin, but throughout our entire nation. When asked how could we stand there all day, we always reply, "It is the least we can do. The animals have to live in so much worse conditions their entire lives. We can handle 4 hours of this cold."

Hello. Along with being a full time realtor, I am also a full time animal lover and activist! During this time of year, it is so easy to go into a pet store and purchase a puppy for Christmas. Please don't! If you want to add a companion animal to your home, please adopt from your local animal shelters. Many petstores throughout the US buy their puppies from Puppy Mills.
