waukesha cty realtor: Skin-Tracking Tools - 05/21/12 06:29 AM
A friend forwarded me this info and I think it is GREAT!Doing a monthly skin check could save your life. Look for these red flags: a very dark or black mole, a spot that's bleeding or rapidly growing, or a new mole that's bigger than a #2 pencil eraser. It's hard to remember what your skin looks like from week to week, so monitor it with one of these tips or tools: 1. Use the photo trick. Put a dime next to the suspicious mole and take a picture on your phone or camera. Do this once a month for

waukesha cty realtor: Who Is The Happiest? - 04/12/12 06:57 AM
My friend forwarded an article to me about who's the happiest, and I thought I would share.... The cheeriest folks in America? Hawaiians. Must be all those sunsets and beaches!Turns out, Biotech workers are the most satisfied employees in the country, followed by customer service reps (really??) and teachers. Life does get better as we age, or maybe we just appreciate it more. Older Americans are the most content generation, with satisfaction peaking at age 70. People who enjoy creative pass times, like visiting museums or performing in the local theater, are singing a happy

waukesha cty realtor: Another Great Idea! - 03/20/12 07:11 AM
The Rachel Ray Magazine has so many great tips. I found this one in it the other day and thought I would share it with all of you too. Another one to try! Flavor Popcorn with Cinnamon Candy! Here is a way to spice up movie night. Add some cinnamon-flavored candies, such as cinnamon Altoids or Red Hots, to melted popcorn butter and stir to dissolve. Season with salt and use as a kicked-up flavoring for popcorn. Interesting...I can already picture my husband groaning. He prefers it old school LOL. Let me know if any of you are adventurous

waukesha cty realtor: Fun Margarita Toppings! - 02/29/12 07:27 AM
I ran across an article in Rachel Ray Magazine that discussed some interesting, fun twists on how to top off your margarita. Enjoy: 1. For a Pineapple Margarita, try Old Bay Seasoning and Black Pepper. This savory mixture may seem more at home in a bloody mary than on a margarita rim, but the black pepper and secret spices give the sugary juice a kick! 2. For a Jalapeno Margarita, try Smoked Salt. If jalapeno peppers are your thing, give this combo a swing! The smoky salt (which tastes like it came off a campfire) has just enough

waukesha cty realtor: Help Save Helpless Cats at Washington University in St. Louis!!! - 02/21/12 05:28 AM
Dear Kristin, Despite protests from you and more than 90,000 other PETA supporters, Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) continues to use cats and ferrets in cruel and archaic intubation training exercises in conjunction with St. Louis Children's Hospital. During this harmful exercise, the animals have hard plastic tubes forced down their delicate windpipes for intubation training—even though modern, superior simulators are available and widely used across the country for this very purpose. WUSTL can try to ignore the recommendations of leading medical organizations and experts in the field who strongly endorse the use of simulators for intubation training—but we can't

waukesha cty realtor: Which Burns More Calories? - 02/16/12 09:19 AM
Which burns more calories: vacuuming your house or raking leaves? Grab your rake! Here's an excuse to get some fresh air. You will shed approximately 300 calories in one hour versus about 250 for vacuuming (for the average 155 pound woman). Kick the yard work up a notch by moving bags of soil or mowing the lawn with a push mower, for example, and you could burn close to 400 calories! Of course, for us here in WI, we will have to wait awhile to get out there and take advantage of these tips, but we will be ready when the

waukesha cty realtor: HOW TO: Help a Chained Dog This Month - 01/17/12 09:38 AM
HOW TO: Help a Chained Dog This Month All too often, "man's best friend" is sentenced to a miserable life of solitary confinement, trapped at the end of a chain. In order to raise awareness of these "forgotten" dogs, PETA has declared January "Unchain a Dog" Month, and we have just what you need to help a lonely, neglected dog in your neighborhood. How You Can Help There are two basic ways to improve the life of a "backyard dog": Work with guardians to help backyard dogs in non-emergency situations. Begin by talking to guardians about what their dogs

waukesha cty realtor: How to Recycle Batteries and Lightbulbs - 12/31/11 10:22 AM
OK, last recycle post for awhile :-) But, here are ways to recycle your batteries and CFL Lightbulbs. BATTERIES Stores like RadioShack, Lowe's and Home Depot recycle rechargeable batteries for free. Search for other drop-off locations near you at call2recycle.org. The single-use kinds, like AAs, no longer contain toxic metals, so it's okay to trash them. However, the casings can leak acid so seal them in a plastic bag first. CFL LIGHTBULBS Gather CFLs, which have mercury, in a plastic bag and toss them in the designated bins at Lowe's Home Depot or Ikes. Your

waukesha cty realtor: 3 Common Sleep Beliefs/Myths - 12/01/11 10:18 AM
Here is the real story behind 3 common sleep beliefs. 1. A glass of warm milk will make me fall asleep faster. Maybe. But, it's more likely due to the soothing comfort of warm mil, rather than the actual ingredients. Milk does contain tryptophan, an amino acid believed to help induce sleep, but there's no hard data to suggest that it really works. 2. Watching TV before bed is interfering with my sleep. Good chance. The light is stimulating, and often what you're watching is, too. Many folks watch the news before giong to bed, and then, go figure, have very

waukesha cty realtor: Shop Smart This Holiday Season! - 11/30/11 09:23 AM
The holidays can be stressful, so follow these three stress free shopping tips: 1. Compare prices before you go. Check out shopping sites like shoplocal.com, krillion.com, thefind.com and milo.com to see how much items are selling for at various stores in your area. It will save you money and time running from store to store. 2. Shop at the right time. The most peaceful days at the mall are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, when foot traffic is just 12% of weekly traffic. Fewer crowds means you can get in and out headache-free. 3. Map it out. Plan a
