CATS coming to San Antonio, Texas ~ December 23-28, 2008 - 10/25/08 07:55 PM
Just in time for Christmas 2008 CATS is coming to San Antonio, Texas. Tickets went on sale today at San Antonio's very own National Historic Landmark, the Majestic theatre box office (or 210-224-9600). The show runs December 23 - 28 and is an award-winning musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. I personally love the names they came up with for the furry, feline friends in CATS, from Deuteronomy to Gus (short for Asparagus) they are creative, talented & fun. Never a dull moment in the musical CATS if you are in San Antonio in December, try to catch a showing of CATS. 224 E

20 ways to go green ~ Plus 20 more~ - 10/25/08 05:25 PM
Ever wonder what simple things you can change to go green that will make a huge difference in the environment? Baby steps might seem silly to some but in the grand scheme of things they can make huge differences. From hand washing your dishes to leaky toilets Karen Klages of the Chicago Tribune came up with the list below that was posted in our San Antonio paper. THE DISHWASHER Use it. Contrary to popular eco-belief, it's greener than hand-washing - if you run it with full loads and scrape rather than rinse. The average dishwasher in American homes today uses 8.7 gallons

~Pumpkin Patch Fun in San Antonio, Texas ~ - 10/21/08 09:24 PM
I stumbled on a ton of ORANGE today. There was way too much fun being had by young & old alike right down the street off Nacogdoches road (FM 2252). Right around the corner from our office, RE/MAX Access, the Bracken United Methodist church is having a Pumpkin Patch & they do not mess around when it comes to bringing pumpkins in... I stopped in for a minute to see how the children were enjoying the Pumpkin Patch. They have hay rides, picture spots, sitting spots to observe & PUMPKINS galore! Big ones, small ones, bumpy ones, bright orange ones, dark orange ones & ones that need a little

Why I love my Real Estate Profession...... - 10/21/08 05:35 PM
My mother always said to me "What comes around, goes around" which in my adult life I have found to be SO TRUE. Especially when it comes to Anne Marie Malfi (AMM!) and this new (?) tag two people deal on AR. Anne Marie Malfi sent me this "Why I love my Real Estate profession" I am pretty sure to get back @ me for the sending the Friendship Ball her way. Here goes.... Why I "love" my job as a Real Estate agent...Here's why I love it and what it brings to my life: Hmmmmmmm.......selfish & obvious reasons first. I

San Antonio, Texas ~ Want more bang for your buck? - 10/19/08 05:29 PM
I believe Davy Crockett said it best in 1836 with "You may all go to Hell and I will go to Texas" Sounds like Forbes.com is agreeing with the American Frontiersman. Smart move. Reported recently if you want more "bang for your buck", head to Texas. San Antonio was number ONE (along with Austin) on Forbes.com's top cities to be in to ride out the nation's financial storm. Also recommended were Dallas & Houston. Forbes noted that Texas continues to do well. It's all a huge thanks to energy, technology and growth manufacturing. Obviously, a winning combination. San Antonio was among the top 10 cities due to

Restaurant Review ~ El Chaparral Mexican restaurant ~ - 10/18/08 08:53 PM
Looking for a good mexican restaurant in San Antonio, Texas? Look no further than El Chaparral restaurant. Serving breakfast (Sat & Sun only) lunch & dinner, El Chaparral has a great atmosphere & is very reasonably priced. El Chaparral is definitely a family oriented place with seating inside or out & serving up the best mexican food around. We arrived about 7PM and the place was packed, we waited a short 15 minutes at the bar prior to being seated. I ordered the EL TEJANO which is 1 cheese enchilada,

Marketing to neighborhoods you just brought a buyer to... - 10/18/08 06:27 PM
The other day my sister and I were talking about marketing ideas. We were talking about "Just Sold" postcards and mailing them out to the neighborhood we just brought a buyer to. I mentioned to her that a listing agent (I worked a deal with in August) told me she got a second listing on the same street (as the one in August) because of the time frame in which she sold the neighbors house. I thought well that is great for her! They were obviously impressed with how quickly she sold the neighbors home & wanted her to do the same with theirs. So, this listing

Making a life list ~ Do you have one? - 10/14/08 08:32 AM
Going to real estate conferences can be overwhelming! There are so many great speakers, people & things going on it can be too much! And going back to back is pushing it! You hear so much about going home & implementing what you learned so as not to "waste" your time there. There are so many things that haven't crossed your mind that other people do that you take copious notes wondering how you will implement all these spectacular ideas & find time for all these books, quizzes, worksheets, etc. ONE of the things that I learned & started doing

Finding a good loan officer is KEY! - 10/11/08 01:17 AM
The best thing that has come out of what is going on with the mortgage crisis is consumer awareness. Those that didn't pay attention before to their mortgage, the terms, the rates, the buzz words, now ARE. Educating themselves of how to get a loan, what the process is, fixed rates vs. variable rates, ARM's, Balloon's, etc. If you didn't know what these terms meant before, I bet you do now. Home-buyers are learning to ask questions & know how to get the answers they need. A good loan officer can assure you peace of mind throughout your loan application and all the

Almost a month after Ike hit Texas - 10/08/08 09:28 PM
It has been almost a month since Ike hit Texas. Even in Texas we haven't heard much about it lately. The city of Galveston is still trying to recover from it. We just drove into Galveston from San Antonio for RE/MAX's Top 500 Retreat. We were shocked at what we saw but shouldn't have been. It is so different seeing it up close vs. on the news. Here are some of the shots I took today. This is what you see while driving in on 45 to Galveston, Texas. There are boats littered all over the sides

In fact I would have paid twice what we paid for this spectacular show. I am a huge Wizard of Oz fan so Wicked was right up my alley. Saving for a new home in today's market~ - 10/04/08 06:38 PM
Saving for a new home can be stressful and less of a reality than one would like to make it. It is very doable. Start small with a savings account for that new home. Pay yourself first with every paycheck putting more and more away until you make homeownership a reality. The pros far outweigh the cons: Why it's difficult to save - New additions to your family Automobiles need repair or replacement Furniture wears out Major appliances need repair or replacement Medical expenses occur Rent increases are inevitable HOWEVER- Homeownership creates an automatic savings program for you & your family! Tax deductions for

Downtown Chicago ~ Tourists on the town ~ - 10/03/08 02:53 PM
Saturday evening in Chicago was our first trip downtown. We had been in class for days & decided to adventure out & see what there was to see. What we ultimately found out was there is a TON to see. We had so little time to see it all! We started out on our own wandering down the streets checking out everything Chicago has to offer. We ended up meeting up with a new friend we met in Star Power Leadership class Nicholas (Nico) Apostal (one of Chicago's most knowledgeable agents) & having an excellent tour of downtown, the shops & dining

While in Chicago do as the Chicagoians DON'T do! - 10/02/08 09:33 PM
Sitting amongst a ton of tourists on the Architectural tour on Chicago's own "Chicago Line Cruises" I started thinking about all the Chicago natives that have probably taken all that Chicago has for granted. Much as a Texas girl would take the River Walk for granted or the Alamo. It made this Texas girl think of all that San Antonio has to offer & what I should take a second look at. We took a 90 minute boat tour that showed us a side of Chicago I wanted to see more of. The structure of the buildings & the love in

My sister and I spent a ton of time in CHICAGO at the Star Power conference this last week. We are now back! We returned safely, it's a shame I haven't seen my luggage yet. I think I met over 100 new people. It is easy to talk to folks when you are visting new places so we decided to have a little fun with it while we were at it. As we met people everywhere we went my sister and I found it very interesting that SO many people who live in Chicago are from other places. I made this quick video
