texas: Almost a month after Ike hit Texas

It has been almost a month since Ike hit Texas. Even in Texas we haven't heard much about it lately. The city of Galveston is still trying to recover from it. We just drove into Galveston from San Antonio for RE/MAX's Top 500 Retreat. We were shocked at what we saw but shouldn't have been. It is so different seeing it up close vs. on the news. Here are some of the shots I took today.

My family and I spent the weekend in Port Aransas at the 9th annual Ray Sekula saltwater classic fishing tournament. To be in the tournament is one thing but to get ready for it is another. Being this was our first year to enter the contest we were prepared with a capital P. There's alot to do to get ready for a day of fishing ...there's rods to reel, bait to buy & trash to talk. Last week my little sister who is in pharmaceutical sales was out with some friends celebrating a work victory. She happened to be wearing some wedge sandals and drinking margaritas (yes, a bit of foreshadowing). Now these sandals aren't for sissys - these puppies are high (& hard to walk in) but oh, so cute. Since I wasn't present I cannot attest to the quality of the margaritas BUT,

OPEN - OPEN - OPEN!!! I'm curious how many agents do open houses and what their TRICKS are to make them a complete and smashing success? I am at yet another open house as we speak. One of our listings that has been on the market for 17 days and is at a very marketable price in the neighborhood. I am convinced that most people who stop by will be looky-loos but am holding out for one of my listings to sell by the fact that I held an open house!!
