detroit tigers: My priorities are all screwed up this morning. (Ever have one of those days?) - 07/06/09 05:29 AM
It was quite a headline type news weekend in the Metro Detroit area, and one would think with all of the economic problems that my hometown area is facing that I would be a bit more concerned this morning with hard core issues facing people in my area. My priorities are screwed up today. (I'm human, I'm sure you've all experienced this also at one time or another.) Instead of delving deeper into the bad asset sale of GM and the bankruptcy courts approval of those assets, or worrying about the police chief of Detroit being fired without a reason for

detroit tigers: Goodbye Pudge, and thank you. - 07/30/08 04:59 PM
A couple of hours ago it was announced that the Detroit Tigers have traded catcher Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez to the New York Yankees for relief pitcher Kyle Farnsworth. I try not to get too wrapped up in emotions when trades are made, as they are part of the business of baseball. But this time my heart is heavy. Pudge came to the Tigers as a free agent when it wasn't cool to come to Detroit. In my eyes he became the face of the new Detroit Tigers. I'll miss him. Very much.Welcome back Kyle. Hope you have fun here.

detroit tigers: You never know what you'll catch on video - (one of the most hysterical things I've seen yet on U-Tube) - 06/26/08 04:04 AM
During last nights Detroit Tigers game vs the St. Louis Cardinals there was a rain delay.A lengthy rain delay. A 2+ hour rain delay. I've often heard it said that little boys grow up to be big boys and you really can't take the kid out of grown men. One of my favorite Tigers players proved that last night and entertained the die hard fans that waited it out. Todd Jones, the amazing closer for the Detroit Tigers, aka The Rollercoaster has always beenknown for his wit and his grace and fun loving heart. While the tarp was on the field

detroit tigers: What a fun week for the Tigers - 04/27/08 04:29 PM
One of the ways I handled the burnout that I was faced with a week ago was attending the Detroit Tigers ballgame vs. the Texas Ranger on Wednesday night, courtesy of a good friend of mine. (Thanks again Brian!) Yes, that was the game that ended up being what is called a "laugher". The Tigers hitters appeared to all come out of their slow starts all at once. It was also the game that Curtis Granderson came off the disabled list and the standing ovation he received from the fans gave me chills. I can't tell you how good it was

detroit tigers: Woo Hoo! The Tigers are looking like the Tigers again! - 04/10/08 07:07 AM
Anyone who knows anything about me and reads my blog had to know this postwas coming this morning. For those not in the know (is there anyone in the Metro Detroit area who does not know that the Detroit Tigers won last night?):They won! They won! They won!Tidbits of last nights game: Jeremy Bonderman holding the lead he was given and pitching very well to a tough Red Sox lineup. Edgar Renteria answering the boo-birds at Fenway in a special way: 3 hits and 2 RBI's. Marcus Thames looking like his old self witha powerful 2 run homer. Ivan Rodriguez hit the

detroit tigers: Did our local media members all go to the same school? (Or: I'm staging a sit-down) - 04/04/08 06:05 AM
Sports reporters and talk show hosts must have taken the same classes as the business reporters. They all seem to lead in to their shows and reports with “Panic!! The sky is falling!” Today I am taking a break from reading news reports and listening to the local media outlets. Why? Because I am so blasted tired of the negativity and the pleas for attention with the panicky voices. My beloved Detroit Tigers have lost their first 3 games of theseason to the Kansas City Royals. You would think by listening to the talk shows on a.m. radio that

detroit tigers: What will you be doing at 1:05 today? - 03/31/08 07:35 AM
As I look outside and see gray skies and wet roads I can't help but wonder how many Metro Detroiters are counting the hours until 1:05 this afternoon. Why am I watching the clock? Because it is officially spring in Motown! The Detroit Tigers will open the baseball season at home taking on the up and coming Kansas City Royals. First pitch is schedule for 1:05 pm. Justin Verlander ( Rookie of the Year for the American League in 2006 and in 2007 pitched a no-hitter at Comerica Park) will be the starting pitcher for todays game.I hope to get all

detroit tigers: "Buy this photo" - I got SO excited, then realized I would go broke! - 02/15/08 05:40 AM
In todays local papers (The Detroit News and The Detroit Free Press) my "official" first day of spring was formally announced. My beloved Detroit Tigers are in Lakeland Florida for Spring Training! There are some terrific photos online, and one I especially would want that showcases our 2 young pitchers, Justin Verlander and new-to-the-Tigers Dontrelle Willis smiling while Justin aims a radar gun at some of his teammates while they throw. Imagine my total excitement when under the photo there is a link that says: "Buy this photo" I went into Oh-I-would-have-some-awesome-blog-photos heaven! Until I clickedon the link and saw the prices. $30 for one

detroit tigers: For the Florida Marlins fans from a Detroit Tigers fan(atic) - 12/06/07 05:43 AM
Yesterday I had mixed feelings about the trade. So much has been said and discussed on our local sports stations and talk shows, and much more written in our local papers and blogs. You're also experiencing much the same thing I would imagine. What I'd like to do however is tell you a little bit about 2 of the young men that you will be seeing this spring from my own personal observation.Andrew Miller is a young kid that is tall and lanky and your first instinct will be to want to take him home and feed him. One of the

detroit tigers: LaTroy Hawkins – Let Metro Detroit be your next home - 11/30/07 04:56 AM
I’ve been reading of the Detroit Tigers interest in free agent pitcher LaTroy Hawkins and hope that the Tigers organization and Mr. Hawkins and his agent can come to an agreement to bring him to Detroit. Perhaps if Mr. Hawkins knew more about Metro Detroit and Tigers fans it would help sway him in his decision about where to play next season. Mr. Hawkins, first, I would like you to pick up the phone and call others who play for the Tigers, and those who have played here in the past. Ask them about Tigers fans. Hands down we’re the

detroit tigers: The "Roller Coaster" is back! - 11/14/07 04:46 AM
Warning: This post is NOT real estate related but is directly related to the first love of my life - Detroit Tigers baseball. For all you Comerica Park bullpen watchers the "Roller Coaster" Todd Jones has signed another one year contract. Now many may sigh and think "One more year of biting my nails and going on the Coaster ride". I'm one of thedissenters. I enjoy Todd and think he does a fabulous job. Just becausehe has my heart palpitating when I see him warming up doesn't meanhe isn't a whole lot of fun and an enjoyable pitcher to watch work. Those

detroit tigers: Working during baseball season (or, why I sometimes show up with my Tigers hat on!) - 08/13/07 01:04 PM
Most of my clients (past and current) know that I am a big baseball fan and an even bigger Detroit Tigers fan. My passion for the game is 40+ years strong and with those amount of years invested it is definitely hard to turn off the fan during working hours! During one recent home inspection I showed up with my casual clothes on and my Tigers hat on complete with ponytail pulled through the back. The inspector gave me a lopsided smile but my client (bless her!) said "Isn't it the Boston series this weekend?" (I did refrain from going out to
