One of our area multilist associations (Realcomp II Ltd.) has just released the March 2010 housing sales report and I have to say, I’m excited about what I’m seeing.   Most real estate professionals feel that the housing market will truly show signs of a recovery when 3 things happen consistently:    Number of homes on the market decline,   number of foreclosure sales decline, and sold home prices start creeping back up.   During the month of March of this year we saw all 3 of these happening.

In speaking with a lady who called earlier last week regarding the $8000 first time home buyers credit from the Federal Government I realized that once again there are so many misconceptions out there for consumers. It is most certainly not the consumers fault that they are confused.   First, they are told that it is only for first time home buyers, yet the government fails to promote just as heavily that the definition of first time home buyer is one that hasn’t owned a home in the 3 years previous to a new purchase. Wonderful news came out of my searching this morning for the homes sold in Macomb County MI during the month of September, 2008.  More homes sold this past month in comparison to the previous time period (September 2007)The total of homes  sold in Macomb County were up a whopping 49%.   Sales prices are still falling from this period a year ago, but I have a feeling that part of this is due to the amount of homeowners who chose to lease or rent their homes.The average days on the market also showed a decrease, but this is good news.  For the … (3 comments)
