Hurricane Irene leaves record damage, flooding and power outages. This is now the fourth time in 12 years that The Lost Valley section of Manville has suffered major flooding.  Irene was the first hurricane to make landfall in New Jersey since 1903, causing historic levels of devastation.  The rains this last week due to Tropical Storm Lee flooded many streets in Manville again.  The residents of Manville are hoping to go back to some type of normalcy soon!

Norz Farm in Hillsborough, NJ was Hit by Hurricane Floyd, 2011, But Most of it Survived! - 09/08/11 08:02 AM
Hurricane Irene swept through Somerset County on Sunday, August 28th 2011 and left a trail of destruction behind her.  I have been to the Norz Farm duing the fall season many times.  I'm glad to know that some of the pumpkin fields were saved, along with the corn maze.
At Norz Hill Farms, a 1,100-acre farm in Hillsborough along the south branch of the Raritan River, owner Richard Norz estimates he lost a third of his pumpkin crop according to NJ.com.

75 homes are under contract in Hillsborough: 52 single family homes and 23 townhouse/duplexes.
 
There were 110 new listings here in town since July 1st 2011 (71 homes and 39 townhouses). 76 homes are under contract in Somerset: 47 homes and 29 townhouse/duplexes.
 
There were 81 new listings here in town since July 1st 2011 (35 homes and 46 townhouses). All of this information is important to include in the Real Estate Market Recap of Somerset.  I feel that the recent lower home prices and the lower mortgage interest rates can make it a great time to buy a house.
