A Realtor friend of mine called me the other day and was feeling down.  I tried to give my friend my full attention, because I, myself, have had episodes of loneliness and despair.  So, I listened to hours of tear-filled stories which she claimed to be the cause of this deep, dark, depression, but I could not understand the problem,  You see, my friend had met a man.  This man seemed to be her knight in shining armor sent in on a big white horse to rescue her from all of life's pitfalls.  It was not meant to be, however.................

Homeowners across America are throwing their hands up in the air and waking away from their homes, but maybe too soon.  Many are well aware that they paid too much for their homes at the height of the housing boom, and if that weren't enough, they took out second mortgages.  Even the homeowners who can afford the mortgage are giving their homes back to the bank because they know that they are in a negative equity situation and will never be able to recoup their loss.  I am aware of more than a handful of homeowners, right here in Virginia Beach, … (0 comments)

Two days ago, at a Virginia Beach Apartment complex, 6 people were shot and 3 died when employees of Thalia Apartments tried to evict a tennant.  The first time they went to his door, he answered the door naked, and the second time they went, he answered the door with guns.  This is a huge tragedy, but we have to remember that there is always the potential for something like this to happen in our business.  For those of us who are landlords and those of us who are Realtors, we must pay close attention to the deadly stories of late … (5 comments)

Everyone seems to be caught up in investing in real estate because of the slump in the market.  There are alot of new investors out there ready to make big bucks and cash in quick, but be careful.  You have to consider the fact that if you think you are making a great deal on a house because it has been on the market for a while, needs some work, and is priced lower than others in the area, other investors have already looked at the same house, and propbably could not make the numbers work.  If you can't negotiate the … (1 comments)

One of my favorite investors rented a U-Haul in Virginia Beach this morning to move a couple of appliances.  He was quoted a price for the day, mile, and told to bring the truck back with the same amount of gas in which he left.  He drove a total of 13 miles.  Before he returned the truck, he stopped and put $5.00 of gas in the truck.  Seems like it would be enough, right?  No!!!   He was told that he would be charged a $30.00 service and $4.00 a gallon if he did not put more gas in the tank.  He … (1 comments)
