Tom Ferry Summit-- What YOU Missed! - 08/31/11 07:34 PM
Tom Ferry Summit-- What YOU Missed!
The Tom Ferry Summit in Anaheim last week delivered big time!  This was my 3rd Summit-- so you might think that I am sold on coaching, sold on Tom Ferry, drank the kool-aid,  joined the cult, and that I'm ready to get on the spaceship.
This year was different.  My husband went with me.
He is the biggest skeptic of "motivational" type events.  He is serious non-believer.  And yet, HE chose to go.
Not only did we have a great time in Anaheim but here is what you missed!
The theme of the event was … (10 comments)

The Things I Love Now, I Learned to Love in Kindergarten
My parents, Don & Penne  were high school sweethearts and married in "late December back in '63.".. and it was a very special time for me.  They bought their first home in Aurora, Colorado on Del Mar Circle in 1968 and I was on my way to kindergarten.  Some of my favorite things of that time were my little red tricycle, my red rocking chair, and my kitty Sammy.  But the best … (15 comments)

Pay-it-Forward - Sharing ICE - 08/21/11 10:27 PM
I just programmed my phone, and my husbands with ICE numbers.  We had them in our older phones-- but needed to put them in again with our iPhones.  Make sure to update your phone with you "in case of emergency"  numbers, it only takes a second.

Mondy Family Photos using Slide.com - 08/21/11 06:33 PM
After scanning many family photos to preserve and keep them... I created this "Slide" show using Slide.com to share the photos in a fun way! Slide.com is an easy program that allows multiple photos to be uploaded at a time... up to 50. It also has all kinds of effects, themes, skins, and extras that you use to enhance your slide show! It's really important to me to save these old photos for future generations-- and now we have the ability to share them so easily with Facebook and Twitter. So do some scanning, save and preserve your memories, and then … (7 comments)

Cruising in New Mexico - 08/20/11 05:03 PM
Some photos I took of our recent trip... New Mexico has so many different types of beauty. From the plains in the east to the rocky mountains, to the quaint little towns, and the robust cities. New Mexico is the fourth largest state in the country with over 121,000 sq/miles, but it is home to less than 2 million people. One of my favorite things about New Mexico are the wide open spaces, my Dad called it the "high lonesome".

Hatch Chiles a New Mexico Specialty! - 08/19/11 08:53 PM

Our recent road-trip took us through a small town in southern New Mexico called HATCH.  Hatch is famous for one thing-- amazing chiles that they grow in surrounding farms.  As you enter the town the road-side stands filled with hanging chiles and ristras line the highway.  In the late summer the harvest begins and each stand has gunny sacks of chiles ready for roasting.
I grew up in Portales, NM and the local stores would carry fresh Hatch chiles every summer.  Last year I ordered a couple of gunny sacks full online... I roasted some, froze some … (6 comments)

My New Mexico Roots are Showing: Confessions of Chile-Lover! - 08/17/11 05:20 PM
While traveling on our recent road-trip we took the I-25 south from Denver and headed to my old stomping grounds in New Mexico.  Our first stop was in the northern NM town of Raton... using Yelp.com on my iPhone it guided us to this 40 year old traditional (New) Mexican eatery, a converted family home, known as "La Cosina".
I knew before I sat down what I would order... they had stuffed sopapillas-- a New Mexico specialty.  They are pillows of fried dough, often served with honey for dessert, but these stuffed sopapillas are filled with cheese, beans, and roasted, tender … (11 comments)

Are We Clear on the Showing Instructions? - 08/17/11 03:59 PM
Showing instructions must be clear and agreed upon by the seller.  A cooperative seller, who is accomodating as far as showings can really help get that home sold!

Turns Out It Was Hard for Me to Blog on Vacation - 08/16/11 09:57 PM
We had a great road-trip and are home tonite-- I wrote a blog before I left asking if fellow ActiveRainers blogged on vacation... most said they did, with NO pressure if it didn't happen.
I found that it was very challenging to find the time to blog-- but also most family and friends didn't have wireless-- so the computer would stay in the car.  I really missed my blogging therapy and the connection I feel when I'm on ActiveRain.  I was with my Colorado family, but I sure missed my ActiveRain family.

Road to Recovery: Palm Springs Area Attractions Numbers are UP! - 08/04/11 09:44 PM
ROAD TO RECOVERY:  Palm Springs Area Attractions Numbers are UP!

Good news in the tourist industry here in the Palm Springs area... the summer numbers are better than ever! Tourism usually tapers off here in the summer and locals help keep the businesses going in these warmer months.
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway broke ridership records in both June and July, and last months totals approached the numbers we usually see in January, when the snow-birds and seasonal people fill the valley.  July's numbers bested last years by 12% with 44,275 people making the ride from the valley floor to … (8 comments)

Simple Things that Make me Smile: Good Books and GoodReads.com - 08/03/11 12:36 AM

Once I joined GoodReads.com, a very user friendly free site... I began adding books that I have read in the past, and rating them. It was fun to remember some of my favorites.  It took some time to get rolling... but I am … (16 comments)

Have You Had a Hard Time Finding "Good News" or Where is the Road to Recovery? - 08/02/11 07:09 PM
I have been scouring the paper, driving around,  following the internet, listening to the radio, paying attention to people... and I have been having a hard time coming up with "good news" for the spread-the-word, Road to Recovery contest hosted by Peter & Linda Pfann.
I did write a post about the strong market in Brentwood, CA... (the one in southern California near LA) but isn't that kind of a stretch? Brentwood is over 100 miles away!   Surely I can find some good news here in the desert to write about... I was  planning on doing at least 5, and … (10 comments)

Road to Recovery: Brentwood California Home Sales Are Strong! - 08/01/11 08:03 PM
Brentwood is a great place to be an agent... and it's home sales are strong!   After taking a pounding during the recession, Brentwood is now outperforming Bel-Air, and even the 90210 addresses of Beverly Hills in June, both in home sales and in median price. According to data from real estate analytics company HomeData Corp, Brentwood is the only one that saw it's median price increase year-over-year, from $1.37 million in 2010 to $1.56 million in 2011.
What does this mean for the real estate here in the desert?

Speechless Sunday: Rare Rainy Day in the Desert! - 08/01/11 12:13 AM

We almost always have sun, so it is a really special treat to hear the rain falling on the roof, and smell the rainy day smells!
