The new title sponsor for the Bob Hope Classic... Humana the health-care conglomerate is making some big changes in the format and even the name of the 52 year old event. Although, Bob Hope's image will still be used in promoting the event, the tournament will be called the Humana Challenge. Changes in the format of play along with an increased purse are just a few things that will be different at the La Quinta January event.
The name change has the endorsement of the Hope family, but for me... it just isn't right. What about the "Hope Girls"... will … (3 comments)

Humana and the William J Clinton Foundation Partner with PGA TOUR for Bob Hope Classic Eight-year partnership with the TOUR and the Classic beginning in 2012. Former Presidents George Bush, Gerald Ford, and Bill Clinton joined defending Classic champion Scott Hoch and tournament host Bob Hope and President Ford's son Steve on the course at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in 1995.

With all the satellite tools, Google Earth, and You-Tube videos (among many others) many of us are able to see our home-town and neighborhoods from the sky. The high-tech, high-def technology gives us access to the most amazing images of the places we live and can bring a new and enlightened perspective.
The Bob Hope Classic is being played entirely in La Quinta, CA this week. We are very lucky to live right on the signature 7th hole at La Quinta Country Club and have a front-row seat to the PGA players and the athletes, celebrities, and amateurs playing this week. … (6 comments)

We are so lucky to have front row seats here at La Quinta Country Club and the Bob Hope Classic! The weather is gorgeous... in the mid 70's, sun is shining and we have the celebrity field here today. This is one of my favorite weeks here in the desert!
My favorite comedian Ron "Tater Salad" White is one of the celebrities playing this week. If you get a chance to see him, or even catch his act on TV... DO IT!

The Bob Hope Classic is being played entirely in the City of La Quinta for the second year in a row! The courses this year are La Quinta Country Club, SilverRock Resort, and the Palmer and Nicklaus Private courses at PGA WEST.
Practice rounds for the amateurs, celebrities and pros will begin on Monday and Tuesday of this next week, but I have spotted many pros getting in early practice sessions here at La Quinta Country Club. We complained about the rain last week-- it dampened the usually sunny ☼ BOB HOPE CLASSIC ☼. The amateurs were rained out on Wednesday, and the Celebrities skipped our course on Thursday... courses were soggy and the weather was cool, cloudy, wet and breezy... not our kind of weather at all!
But the sun finally came out on the weekend and look at what we saw!! FOR MORE GREAT DESERT PHOTOS AND FUN GO TO MY SITE LIVETHEDESERTLIFE.COM !

La Quinta Country Club still loved by Bob Hope Classic golfers ! LA QUINTA — Although the sun wasn’t shining at La Quinta Country Club on Wednesday, players sounded like they were in golfing paradise.“I remember my first year out here in ‘07, I was going, ‘Man, I could play here every day,’” George McNeill said.
It didn’t hurt that McNeill shot the lowest round of the day at the course — a 7-under 65 — but fellow pros echoed his praise. They are pleased that the course has rejoined the rotation at the Bob Hope Classic after a one-year absence.

We saw Arnold Palmer here today at LaQuinta Country Club-- but he was'nt playing-- he was following his Grandson, Sam Saunders! Sam is playing in the Bob Hope Classic this year and his proud Grandpa is behind the ropes watching! Here is a shot of him warming up!
We had a few sprinkles today, but it was still great fun to be out watching the pros and walking around this great course. More Bob Hope Classic updates coming soon!

Jan 18-24 is the Bob Hope Classic here in our own beautiful La Quinta. For the first time ever, the tournament is being played exclusively in La Quinta. SilverRock is the home course this year which is just down the road from us. So golfers and fans save the date, there is sure to be a lot of activity and events.
