Toronto is still going strong with the condo boom, despite the doom and gloom in the global financial markets.  Every three block radius, we can see cranes popping up and many more along lakeshore. The shiny condo skyline has become a destination for international investors.

To complement the existing car sharing program at the revitalized Regent Park, Toronto Community Housing and Daniels have entered into an agreement to extend BIXI Toronto's modular bicycle sharing system in the downtown core to the neighbourhood. Two bike docking stations should be installed within the next week. One is on Dundas, just in front of FreshCo. The other will be on Parliament St, just south of Gerrard. Regent Park residents can drop off and pick up bicycles from location to location 24 hours a day.

Toronto will soon launch a Wellbeing Toronto Indices website, which will show metrics of 140 neighbourhoods which comprises of indicators from
housing environmental safety health education transportation recreation culture economics services [libraries, schools, hospitals] social demographics I see this website will be useful for home buyers, and also be an effective tool from a City planning point of view. The timing of this new website will coincide with the launch Toronto Real Estate Board Redestricting Map.
The site is anticipated to launch in a week. So check back and see how your neighbourhood ranks!

This Sunday, Caroline Macfarlane and Vanessa Nicholas from the OCADU Student Gallery will be bringing their GOOD BIKE project to Regent Park. Initiated by Adam Molson at One Cole and TCHC, Regent Park will be the first neighbourhood where this art project will be installed, as it spreads to other parts of the City.  They've sanded and primed 9 recycled bikes, which residents from One Cole condominium, the Townhomes and the new social housing buildings next door are invited to come out and paint. Some North American cities are starting to see urban starter homes being offered at 400sf. We are definitely seeing this in the Toronto Condominium market where units come as small as $450sf for compact living.

There are a lot of overlooked urban lots in old Toronto that pose great potential for urban infill project. An architectural designed modern home can do a lot in a little space. While a buyer sources an infill property, it is important to assess the new structure based on setback requirements as part of the feasibility before finalizing the purchase.
