The Greater NY Chapter, Long Island Office of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation announced today the kick-off of GREAT STRIDES, the largest Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser in the country. GREAT STRIDES raises critical funds for life-saving research, education and care programs for cystic fibrosis (CF), a fatal genetic disease. At Westhampton Beach, participation in GREAT STRIDES is expected to break attendance records this year. The Westhampton Beach walk will take place on Saturday May 19, 2011 starting at the Village Green located at the intersection of Mill Road and Main Street. Registration begins at 9AM, and the walk begins at 10AM. Walk day is a fun, family-oriented celebration that includes a healthy walk.

There are separate area for hunting by age group which encouraged fair hunting and safety for all participants - areas for Toddlers up to 3 years, 5-6 years & 7+ years. The Westhampton Rotary Club hosts a spaghetti dinner each year as part of the club's fundraising efforts. Proceeds of the dinner are used to continue the club's charitable work in the area with donations to Maureen's Haven, East End Hospice, Family Counseling, Dominican Sisters and many more community organizations.

The 20th Annual Rotary Club of Westhampton Spaghetti Dinner includes spaghetti, meatballs & salad provided by Sydney's "Taylor" Made Cuisine of Westhampton Beach. Rolls and Dessert provided by Simon's Beach Bakery Cafe of Westhampton Beach. Coffee and Tea provided by The Hampton Coffee Company of Westhampton Beach. A beer, wine and soda bar will be also be available.

Ticket price is $12 for adults (12 and up), $10 for senior citizens and students under 12.

Traditionally held two weeks before the Westhampton Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Committee's Fund Raiser is one of the East End's best winter parties. In 2012 it will be on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Tickets are $20 at the door with a cash bar. The fundraiser is the primary way the Westhampton Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee raises fund necessary to pay for the event. Doors open at 7pm at Casey's Dance Hall and Saloon and remain open just past 11 p.m. Local dignitaries visit and the committee introduces the year's Grand Marshal while accompanied by the East End Pipes and Drums pipe band. Parade supporters have ample opportunities to buy into many of the great raffles the Committee holds. Some of the raffle prizes offered include a four night trip to Las Vegas, a big HD flat screen TV, $500 cash or a round of golf for a foursome at a great East End country club as well as many overflowing wagons of cheer and local goods and services. Tickets for these raffles can be bought before the party by contacting the Committee at info@whbstpats.com. Tickets can also be purchased during the fund raiser. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six can be purchased for $5. Almost $20,000 in Cash & Prizes will be awarded. While the three raffles are always popular, it's the $100 raffle tickets that are the fastest to go. Only 300 are sold with the grand prize winner walking away with $5,000. Second prize wins $4,000, third prize takes home $3,000 and on down. There are 13 chances of winning anywhere between $250 and $5,000. These tickets sell out quickly so if you are interested, contact the event chairs soon to get on a waiting list to reserve yours now. The $100 tickets often sell out before the fund raiser. There are also raffles for Wagons & Baskets of Cheer/Gift Packs. The wagons come packed with great prizes and each one is worth more than $100 and often are worth about $250 each. There are bottles of spirits, gift certificates to local restaurants, tanning salons and delicatessens among other great prizes included. Last Year there were dozens of separate prizes in the Wagons of Cheer Raffle with each worth between $125 and $500.

History of Casa Basso

The iconic buildings are rich in history and are unique to Westhampton. The creekside property was originally purchased in the late 19th century by American artist Theophilus Brower.

As a young man, Brower traveled and studied art in Spain and

Italy, and when he returned to

Long Island, he built a castle like one he remembered near Seville.

After completing the castle, he adorned the property with romantic sculptures which include two twelve foot swordsmen, a Roman lion, and a Psyche.

As part of their end of the year activities, the Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce - in cooperation with the Hampton Arts Twin Cinemas - is hosting two free holiday children's movies on Saturday, December 10thm 2011 at 10:30AM in the Morning. This is a great way to kick-off the Holiday Winterfest activities in Westhampton Beach Village that day. Entrance is by donation of a canned or dry good to benefit the local Westhampton Food Pantry.
