As a real estate professional, I am constantly working with a diverse network of service providers. It amazes me how much money I can save people when they're contemplating the installation of a new concrete walkway, driveway, extra parking pad, etc. The most popular thing I come across is people craving a "real" patio versus the silly little 10X10 patio they got with the home they purchased. wood: Gas Fireplace? Or...Wood Burning with a Gas Starter? Know Your Fireplaces in Greenville, SC! - 08/30/09 09:25 PM
My neighbor recently shared with me that he has enjoyed burning wood in his fireplace. After pausing for a moment, I said "isn't your home pretty similar to mine?" "Aren't our fireplaces only designed to have gas logs in them?"
He said "nope, they're wood-burning fireplaces! Check your user manual!"
So I did, and to my surprise, the unit is actually called a "Wood Burning Fireplace" on the front of the user manual. I've been using gas logs as I assumed that the fireplace was simply not designed to handle the burning of real wood.

wood: Wood-Framed or Aluminum-Framed Screened Porch??? - 08/23/08 08:48 PM
My wife is seriously excited about the notion of having a screened porch built on the back of our house. I had assumed that we would call the same builders that my neighbors used for their screen porch as they were happy, and it looks great and it's made of wood. The thought to consider other building materials never crossed my mind. Then, I decided to have a local specialist who builds aluminum screened porches come over and give me a quote. He certainly impressed me with the price, the look, the notion of low maintenance, etc.
