I couldn’t help but think of the movie Trading Places today while having a discussion with the listing agent for an overpriced home. Now this isn’t your run of the mill, “let’s price it a little high to leave wiggle room,” listing. This is an inexplicably overpriced home, soaring above the market value by about $100,000.

As the news of the nation continues to focus on declining home prices, there is actually some good news in a few states. The Huffington Post put out an article today entitled "10 States Where Home Prices Have Actually Risen Over The Last Year." The great state of Maine made it to #6 on the list. The most recent rolling quarter home sale statistics were released from the Maine Real Estate Information System showing a 21.88% increase in the number of homes sold and a 6.67% increase in the median sale price as compared to the same period last year for Androscoggin County!
