The Kentucky River at Clays Ferry KY is a hidden jewel. When I was young, my family and I spent most of our weekends on our Sea Ray boat between the two locks of Boonesboro Beach and Valley View. My cousins that had a camp with a boat dock in between. Back then there was so much river traffic. Many families had boats and we knew everyone. A NOVEMBER EVENING AT THE KENTUCKY RIVER / PALISADES
You don't have to ask me twice to go for a boat ride down the Kentucky River.
Especially now that the leaves are turning and the natural limestone rock Palisades are always so beautiful to behold. Some are 200 feet tall!
In this picture you can see the mirror image of the rock formation.
I grew up on the Kentucky River. I'm a former "River Brat".

Every creek in Kentucky has a road beside it. Well not all but most of them do.
Kentucky is second behind Alaska for the state with the most waterways. How did the roads develop? I have to wonder if they first had Indians and settlers walking along them to get to the next settlement.
The paths became wider over time with wagons and carriages. Later were paved in asphalt to become our modern day roads.
One of my favorite ones is Tates Creek Road between Richmond and Lexington.

4th Of July Celebration On The Kentucky River
Happy 4th of July!
Hope all my friends and clients are having a fabulous start of the weekend!
I was out last night enjoying some fireworks at Boonesborough State Park. It was trying to sprinkle some rain but we saw the fireworks that were fabulous! Interesting because I had not even heard that there were going to be fireworks there. Not advertised anywhere I could see. It's a yearly event and I have never been? Hmmmm!

kentucky river: PRIVATE NATURE PRESERVE IN FAYETTE COUNTY, KENTUCKY - 03/25/07 10:26 PM
                                        
Yesterday morning I had a chance to get out and have my coffee out in some of the prettiest scenery in Kentucky. My girlfriend called and invited me to go over near the Kentucky River on some property she owns. It is very close to Raven Run Wildlife Sanctuary...maybe a few miles.
The woods and creek there are drop dead gorgeous. I only had my camera phone with me, so I wasn't really prepared to take pics so early in the morning. I thought this one of the moss covered tree trunks on the ground looked like a wishbone.                                                                                                             … (3 comments)
