madison county: KODAK Moment - Wood Bridges That are Vanishing From Madison County KY - 12/16/10 08:46 PM
KODAK Moment - Wood Bridges That are Vanishing From Madison County KY As I was looking for one of my favorite pictures to enter into the Kodak Moment contest, I found this favorite moment that I had one summer day in Madison County KY. I had been out touring homes with a client near US 25 in Richmond and after I drove across this wood bridge I stopped to take a few pictures for later. Good thing I did. Now this bridge is gone. Yes, it's not even there now. Hard to imagine that something this beautiful is gone. Most of the

madison county: The Wood Bridge That Vanished From Madison County - Richmond KY - 08/21/10 11:19 PM
The Wooden Bridge That Vanished From Madison County - Richmond KY I grew up in Madison County and there were many special things I remember from living here so long. One thing that I like to find are wooden bridges. I wish when I was younger that I had taken a few more pictures of some of the cool bridges around Richmond KY. There were a few wooden ones and also a swinging bridge or two that we would hang out on. This one pictured was off US 25 South near Richmond Auto Parts and a junkyard back in the day. It was a

madison county: Paradise Cove - Richmond Kentucky A Slippery Piece Of Heaven - 06/10/10 07:42 PM
Paradise Cove - Richmond Kentucky A Slippery Piece Of Heaven Finally, Richmond Kentucky has a public pool! It's called Paradise Cove and is located in Gibson Bay. It features a fabulous eight-lane diving pool with two, one-meter diving boards, a children's pool, two 40-foot tall slides, a wide slide and a small butterfly slide for the small tykes. There is talk of adding a lazy river in Paradise Cove and another slide at a later date. It just wouldn't fit into the original budget. Even though the weather has been a bit cool, the pool is a welcome sight to Madison County

madison county: Richmond KY - Kentucky Tornado Takes It's Toll on Madison County - 05/11/09 11:01 PM
This past week in Richmond KY has been a crazy one! It seemed that Madison County would all wash away from rain every day. The forecast was rain, rain and cloudy with possible rain. My yard had started to look like a jungle because it didn't stop raining long enough for the yard guy to cut it. After being swamped by the rain and work all week, I sort of enjoyed the rain on Friday until the electric went off and the Direct TV went out too. As soon as that happened, I heard the tornado warning siren go off.

madison county: Madison County / Tates Creek Road / Valley View Kentucky - 10/09/08 09:15 PM
Madison County / Tates Creek Road / Valley View Kentucky Every creek in Kentucky has a road beside it. Well not all but most of them do. Kentucky is second behind Alaska for the state with the most waterways. How did the roads develop? I have to wonder if they first had Indians and settlers walking along them to get to the next settlement. The paths became wider over time with wagons and carriages. Later were paved in asphalt to become our modern day roads. One of my favorite ones is Tates Creek Road between Richmond and Lexington. The trees are

madison county: Kentucky Residents Burrowed Underground For Seventeen Years Emerge! - 06/05/08 04:57 PM
The other night as I was driving back home through the country in Fayette County, I started to hear the sweet sounds of the bugs of summer. It made me smile as I drove along. Ahhhh....summer is finally here, I thought. You know the bugs that sing loudly and remind you of the deep South. Sultry nights on the veranda of your plantation. These are Cicadas. The other night I was showing a farm in lower Madison County way off Red Lick Rd. I was walking around checking out the front yard and there were small holes in the dirt...EVERYWHERE!

madison county: Two Wisconsin Cheeseheads Escape To Kentucky... for Good! - 05/04/08 08:54 AM
Cazz's Story... Twas the day after Christmas And we looked for a house Around lovely Richmond town With the sun shining down Alright, enough with the poem, on with the story of how two Cheeseheads from Wisconsin came to live in beautiful Madison County. On December 26, 2007, we arrived in Richmond, walked down Main Street in the late afternoon, and fell in love with the town. We found friendly people, especially at Chestnut Tree Gallery. We were given the name of a local Realtor, Lizette Fitzpatrick, and the rest is history. She was personable and got right to work searching for the right home for us. We

madison county: Relocation Clients Enjoy Their Kentucky Rain - 12/29/07 09:59 AM
Ahhhh. what a difference a good night's sleep makes! This is a picture of the beautiful sky out front of my house this morning at 7:30A. It looked like a tic-tac-toe board! It rained most all day yesterday. I really do like rain...except when have a full day of showing houses to new relocation clients. How did I get these clients? One was from a floor call at Prudential Don Foster. The other a referral from the Rollins family that receive my weekly newsletter. They have an art gallery downtown Richmond called The Chestnut Tree Gallery. You never know where your next client will come

madison county: Is Progress Killing Our Kentucky Green Space? - 08/19/07 11:06 AM
Don't get me wrong...I love my hometown. I was born in Madison County and I have lived half a century to see some major changes here. I am in the business of selling real estate. It would be rare to see a client buy farms just to see them stay as they are. Most always they are bought to subdivide for homes or build commercial buildings. I admit to the love of shopping and have been excited to see some better stores and restaurants move into Richmond Centre. I am sad to see the changes to our unique historic landscape that is green-space. My Dad
