marketing: Sometimes the Room is Scarier than the Dog - 03/02/09 05:11 PM
Here doggy, doggy. Nice doggy, doggy.
My Realtor client called me up to say that she need a staging for her client who had a tenant. She wanted me to go by and give her a bid when I had a moment. She was so sweet because she was very concerned that the homeowner had a dog. Me being a dog person I had no concerns. When I arrived and enter the house this little guy was waiting for me.
Being a true stager I found the site of the living space much more scarier than "Killer" here.  This was what we … (16 comments)

marketing: Stagers Everywhere...It does not have to be YOUR slow time - 11/11/08 11:02 AM
There are 12 months in a year.  I find as I travel around the country at our StagersLIST.com Expos that the more I talk to the individual stagers the more I am amazed how our industry seems to accept the fact that business is only busy 5 - 7 months a year. That it is an acceptable fact and that its OK for that to be the case.
I have to ask - do the bills stop cominig the remaining months of the year?  Does you overhead go away and the light bill not need to get paid?
If the answer is … (16 comments)

marketing: What are we so afraid of? - 10/27/08 11:44 AM
Do you watch the news?
Do you read the papers?
Do you listen to radio shows talking about our economy?
If so, it's enough to get you down in the dumps and a bit of stomach ache isn't it?
We'll pick up those shoulders, lace up those boots and get moving. This is the time to be marketing yourself, your company and to introduce new aspects of your business.
If you run your business in fear you will be left with no business at all.
Yes the economy is rough right now, but I am old enough (46) to remember when it was rough … (10 comments)

marketing: Another level of service, another differentiator, another day as a Professional Stager - 10/03/08 06:48 PM
I love this industry. I especially like the fact that six years ago I looked around my desk at the Wine Company I worked for and said time for a change - what shall I do  - and this is where I landed. It made sense...I have been a marketer for over 20 years designing and marketing consumer products and staging is designing the biggest consumer product there is; it was a naturally transition.
Not only is it an extension of my marketing career, but there is simply never a dull moment. I have not had the opportunity or the desire to … (11 comments)

marketing: Marketing Your Business Daily - 07/22/08 06:41 PM
StagersLIST.com and Welcome Home Furniture held the 1st Annual Bay Area Stager Expo last week to rave reviews http://activerain.com/blogsview/601333/1-Plus-Stagers-3
I was fortunate enough to be one of three speakers presenting a variety of topics. My topic was Marketing Your Business Daily.  There were three reasons why I selected this topic to speak about:

1. I have been a consumer marketer for the past 25 years for large corporations and small companies and am considered an expert in my field.
2. I wanted to share the reasoning behind creating the tag line "It's All About the Packaging" and coining the phrase "I … (35 comments)

marketing: The BEST WAY to make sure YOU look good - 01/20/08 11:50 AM
I love Debra Broadhecker's Blog What Curb Are You Appealing To?  She touched on what I have been meaning to blog about for a week now. She is so right to say that Virtual Curb Appeal is the most important aspect of marketing a property.
"In 1995 only 2% of home buyers did research on the Internet prior to contacting a Realtor. In 2006 that number jumped to 80%. Buyers today have their lists of properties already prepared and have eliminated houses they don't want to see."   Source NAR Buyer/Seller Survey.
I use this quote on the top of all my promotional … (21 comments)
