Real Estate Market In Lafayette, La.- Holding On!!

In the midst of horror stories throughout the country, the real estate market in Lafayette, La. is holding its own. It is definitely a buyer's market, which is the 1st time since Hurricane Katrina. However, because of a strong economy in Lafayette which includes low unemployment, plentiful oilfield jobs, many medical facilities and a state university, The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, our market is plodding along. When comparing our stats to 1 year ago as of June, we have 6.4 months of inventory where as last year for the same time period there were 3.7 months of inventory. The average price of homes sold have only dropped 4% . The average days on market last year was 76 days. Now the average days on market is 83. This is not at all bad compared to what other areas are experiencing. I encourage buyers to buy now. It is a good time to buy with plenty homes on the market and interest rates are good. The feds have recently approved the tax credit for 1st time home buyers which makes buying now even better. On the flip side sellers are selling their homes in a timely manner if they are priced for the market and in good selling condition with all objections removed. I am looking forward to reporting more stats at the end of September.

With God all things are Possible

Christiana, I don't know you , but i am a survivor of non-hodgkins lymphoma. With God all things are possible. I should not be here now. But i am. God is not a respector of persons. What He did for me, He will do for you. Psalm 107:20 says, "He sent HIs word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." Pray and have people read to you as many healing scriptures as you can every day. It is healing to our bodies. I will be praying for you. Psalm 118:17 "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord."

Hurricane Gustav and Lafayette, Louisiana

Returning home yesterday from our flight from Gustav we have found our home with no damage. We are so blessed and do feel for those in the Lafayette and Acadiana areas who have experienced loss of loved ones or property. Many in our Lafayette area who did not experience damage from winds felt the sting of rains today as some in North Lafayette flooded. Many in Acadiana are still without power. Volunteers and electrical crews from many different states are here to help us get back to normal. Grocery stores began to re-open today to meet the needs of the community. We in South Louisiana are looking forward to bright sun shinny days again soon. Please log onto my website www.cindybaileyhomes.com to find a link to the city of Lafayette for more up to date news on our community.
