Just a Short Hike... - 03/25/09 12:32 PM
Two days ago, we went on a ride in my Uncle's Pinzgauer--a Swiss army vehicle that can go anywhere, it's a very heavy duty vehicle and a ton of fun to ride in! We bundled up and rode around with the sides up so we could catch the chilly breeze and get a great view of the scenery. We headed up Cement Creek Road and went as far as the road was cleared.
Then we got out and went for a short hike through the beautiful outdoors! On one side of the road was a canyon wall and on the other … (13 comments)

Spread the Word...Diabetes Alert Day! - 03/23/09 10:20 AM

Via Laura Giannotta Keller Williams Atlantic (Keller Williams Atlantic Shore ):
Tuesday, March 24th is the 21st Annual Diabetes Alert Day.  Tuesday is a one-day "wake-up" call.  Spread the word to ensure everyone in America public knows the serious threat that diabetes poses to life and health.
The American Diabetes Association encourages people to take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they, or their loved ones, are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Diabetes Alert Day is observed on the fourth Tuesday of every March.
I have personal experience with diabetes, my Mom who passed away in December, 2007 … (0 comments)

Successful Day of Skiing :-) - 03/22/09 10:02 PM
Well, after I got out all my nerves and anxiety, skiing was tons of fun and went well! It took a little bit to get my groove back but finally I was turning and moving down the hills with no problem! Skiing is a bit like riding a bike, once you've done it before you can always pick it back up again--even if it's been two years!

The picture below is part of the new lodge built in the center of the resort. Isn't the architecture beautiful? I love the camp fire too! They keep it going all the time; you just sit … (15 comments)

Ready For a Week of Skiing in Crested Butte, CO! - 03/21/09 10:15 PM
Well after having a quick layover in Salt Lake City; we flew into Gunnison, Colorado which is about thirty minutes from our final destination of Crested Butte. Typically we fly into Denver and drive the five hours to Crested Butte, but luckily the flights straight into Gunnison were cheap this time! We are staying in my uncle's home which has an amazing view of Mt. Crested Butte from his back deck...see the picture below!

After settling in, we headed up to the ski resort and got fitted for our skis and boots...we are now all set to ski tomorrow! (I … (8 comments)

Sean's American Bistro: Excellent Restaurant in Buford, Georgia - 03/20/09 09:07 AM
Last night I had the privilege to eat at a great restaurant in Buford, Georgia for the RETechSouth dinner; it was Sean's American Bistro in the live, work, play community called Buford Village. The atmosphere was terrific, I met a bunch of neat people and the food and drinks were amazing!

In case you're unfamiliar with the Buford Village development, it is conveniently located on Buford Highway at the Hamilton Mill intersection. This multi-function community sits on ten acres and 30,000 square feet of office space, 23 luxury town homes and 55,000 square feet of retail shops. These stores and … (6 comments)

Understanding the New $8,000 First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit - 03/18/09 10:40 AM
Did you know that if you're a first-time home buyer purchasing a house between January 1, 2009 and December 1, 2009 that you can receive a tax credit up to $8,000?

Previously this government incentive to purchase a home was limited to $7,500 and had to be paid back over the course of 15 years. However, some changes have been made, which I will outline here that will hopefully answer all of your questions.

Who can receive the credit? Only first-time home buyers are eligible and they must close between   January … (10 comments)

Just Celebrated My 1st Wedding Anniversary! - 03/16/09 03:45 PM
Yesterday, March 15th, was my first wedding anniversary! As I look back at the previous year I'm suprised it flew by so fast! Seems like Matt and I have only been married for a few months!! Although we dated for 4 and 1/2 years before marrying, this year of married life has certainly taught us a lot about each other. I think that we've certainly learned to communicate better and we're realizing that marriage is hard work...it's easy to let work and Active Rain and other things become your focus. But in order for your marriage to thrive and become great … (23 comments)

Take Down the Bird Feeder - 03/10/09 10:12 AM
**Please note: I did not write this; I received it in an e-mail and thought the analogy behind the poem was a good one. Not sure who the author is, except that the beginning says "Maxine" tells it like it is.**

Take Down the Bird Feeder  The analogy is absolutely right on . . . Maxine tells it like it is!!!! I bought a bird feeder. I hung It on my back porch and filled It with seed. What a beauty of A bird feeder it is, as I filled it Lovingly with seed. Within a Week we … (14 comments)

Remember to Change Your Clocks Tonight! - 03/07/09 04:05 PM
Well, it's time to SPRING FORWARD tonight (March 7), so don't forget to turn your clocks forward one hour. You will lose an hour of beauty sleep tonight; however, we're gaining an extra hour of daylight--gone are the days of it being dark around 5:30 or 6:00 p.m.! I always love this time of the year because it means that Spring will be here shortly and with Spring come the beautiful flowers and warm weather that I enjoy so much. It's also a good idea to change all the batteries in your smoke detectors; remember to change them again when we … (59 comments)

Update on Barrow Crossing Development - 03/06/09 04:33 PM
Today I went to check in on how things were coming at the Barrow Crossing shopping center development in Bethlehem, Georgia. I was pleasantly suprised to find that TARGET and BELK are now open! This made me very, very happy since I'm in love with Target! Yippee! (Hubby is none-too-thrilled with this news--as my shopping addiction now has a convenient place to be fed)!

Additionally, Staples and PetSmart will be opening shortly, as will Publix. The Best Buy that I had originally said was going to be at this development was actually put in the new shopping development in Loganville.

Building Personal Relationships are So Important in Real Estate! - 03/06/09 09:23 AM
I truly believe that you can't be successful in real estate if you are solely focused on your transaction number; for me and my business it's all about building and establishing relationships with your clients. People want to feel valued and appreciated; they want to feel that you're more concerned with their well-being than just the sale. This is the philosophy I do business by and it seems to be working--take a look at a recent testimonial that I received from a previous client that I'm proud to be called my friend as well.
When my husband and I went to … (8 comments)

A Word Riddle: Can You Figure it Out?? - 03/05/09 05:35 PM
Well, this was sent to me in an e-mail and I thought everyone else may like a shot at this too. Here it is:
What nine letter word in the English language is still a word when each of the nine letters is removed one by one?
(The answer is in the video, or you can scroll down to see it typed out)

STARTLING
Remove the "L"--STARTING Remove the "T"--STARING Remove the "A"--STRING Remove the "R"--STING Remove the "T"--SING Remove the "G"--SIN Remove the "S"--IN Remove the "N"--I Pretty neat, huh?

Want to Live in the White House? Now You Can!! - 03/03/09 12:19 PM
One of my favorite things to do is visit and tour huge historical homes. I love imagining that I have the privilege of living in those massive houses. It would be especially fun for me to decorate one--Man! Would that be an extensive project to undertake or what?!
After touring the Biltmore House in Asheville, North Carolina one Christmas I was a little disheartened to find out that it wasn't for sale--okay, okay, so I knew that it wouldn't be for sale, but can you imagine living in a home that immense??! (If you have never been there or heard of it, … (7 comments)

Finally!...SNOW in Georgia!! - 03/01/09 09:20 PM
Today I finally got my wish...SNOW in Georgia! Now, my Northern friends will laugh at me, but I was excited about the 2.5 inches we accumulated today! The morning started out very cold and rainy...I'm not a huge fan of cold weather and the drive to church wasn't the most thrilling. But on my drive over the radio reported dropping temperatures and snow later in the day. Well, later in the day occurred sooner than expected...not long after I arrived it started hailing and within an hour of being at church, the minister decided to cancel the service. During my thirty … (11 comments)
