You're Winning the Game.... are You Happy How you got there?? - 02/26/11 01:46 PM
You're winning the game... are you happy how you got there?I was watching the movie Blue Chips (1994) with Nick Nolte as a college basketball coach who gives in to the pressure to "buy" their star basketball players (definitely a No-No under NCAA rules.) As much as I love sports movies, this one is not just about a struggling team who through a miraculous play goes on to defeat their arch rivals. No, this is about the goals we have, the games we play and what we do to succeed...... it's about life. It doesn't matter if you're in sales where (14 comments)
Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County- Will your House Meet Your Buyers' Expectations? - 02/25/11 08:32 PM
Home staging tips in Palm beach county-Will your house meet your buyers expectations? When your Buyers decide they want to see your property, it's usually after they've scoured the Internet and viewed many properties online. They already know its location, number of bedrooms, bathrooms, if it's been updated and other information including the List Price. So, before they set foot in your house, they have certain expectations. A few weeks ago I had breakfast at a newly renovated hotel on the beach. It is part of a well-known upscale chain so I was prepared for a certain level of quality in the (14 comments)

In the glory years of housing and a good economy remodeling often meant a total gutting of a room or rooms and building the State of the Art kitchen... one that any chef would envy. But how has that industry been affected by the economy and where is it headed? In an article by Mary Umberger, who covers Real Estate for the Chicago Tribune, she speaks of where the Remodeling Industry may be headed. Referencing Abbe Will, a researcher for Harvard University's (12 comments)
Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County- Distraction or Detraction... Doesn't Matter... it Needs to GO! - 02/20/11 03:52 PM
Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County... Distraction or Detraction... doesn't matter.. it needs to go. Whether you're selling your home in Palm Beach County or Palm Springs, Boca Raton or Boca Grande buyers need to be able to "see" your house. Square footage, liveability, condition, location and price are what's important. Buyers will see the location and List Price easily enough but what about the first 3? If you want your Buyer to be able to see the "liveability" of your house and the space it has to offer you need to address these 2 things: DISTRACTIONS- What are they? (23 comments)
What a Perfect "Spring" Day in February to try out these hand built CLC Kayaks! - 02/19/11 04:56 PM
Today was a perfect "Spring" day in February to try out these hand built Chesapeake Light Craft Kayaks. Chesapeake Light Crafts (CLC) offers boat kits, boat building materials and boat plans for kayaks, row boats, sailboats and other small watercraft. Yes, an amateur can build this boat. (I know... we almost ended up with one in our garage!) Today there was a demonstration at George English Parkin Ft Lauderdale, where anyone interested or even just curious could try out several of their boats.
All you needed was a life jacket! There were serious kayakers and interested parties that tried out (13 comments)

Today I GOT a JumpStart on my Memory...... I think. - 02/17/11 04:03 PM
Today I got a jump start on training my memory.... I think. This morning's February Business Meeting for the Women's Council of Realtors, Greater Palm Beach Chapter featured Gary Castellano, of Direct Development Training. His topic "Improve Your Results by Training Your Memory."We've all been there... you go into a room and once you're there you can't quite remember why it is you went there. You see someone you should know... because gosh knows they seem to know you but for the life of you, their name just isn't popping into your head. Of course in the short time we had, (20 comments)
The Boomers are BACK!... and You'll Need to Know What They Want! - 02/16/11 10:48 AM
The Boomers are back... and you'll need to know what they(we) want. A recent article in the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel discussed the reemergence of Baby Boomers as a force in the housing market. Silenced these last few years due to the economy and vanishing retirement funds, Baby Boomers were once a prime target audience of builders. Here in South Florida, whole areas west of I-95 were developed just for the 55+ Boomers. Gated with community amenities, shuttles to shopping and entertainment areas, fitness centers, walking trails, and much more they were ideal for the snow-bird or permanent boomer. Happy Valentine's Day...A Female's View. - 02/14/11 12:14 PM
This is not your traditional Valentine's Day post but an observation I made today that I felt I had to share. What I observed actually brought a big smile to my face. I was out running errands early this morning and while I was in my favorite French discount store (Tar je) I noticed how quiet it was. Well fairly quiet except for the dozen or so men I nearly ran into as they were feverishly searching certain aisles. Three men, God bless 'em, were going through whatever cards were left over for Valentine's Day. I have to hand it to (18 comments)
A Second for Me... My Valentine's Day Menage a Trois! - 02/13/11 11:37 AM
Now don't get your knickers in a wad.... My Menage a Trois's (how do you pluralize that?) are not what you think! Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that really benefits florists, restaurants, Hallmark and Godiva! Hey, I'm always up for any excuse not to have to cook! But unlike Thanksgiving or Christmas, where we include our friends, family (of course) and people we may only know casually but with whom we want to share our good fortune, Valentine's Day has typically been celebrated by couples, or couple-wanna-bees. This year, however, I'm "Paying it Forward" as they say. My very (103 comments)

Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County- Don't Forget to Look Outside Your Door and Go GREEN! - 02/11/11 07:43 PM
Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County- Don't forget to look outside your door and go GREEN! If you're planning on selling your house, you've probably heard about staging and the buzzword attached to it- DECLUTTER. We can get wrapped up in painting our walls, packing away our personal photos, and making sure everything is spotless. However don't forget that a Buyer is not just looking at and buying your structure. Your exterior... front yard, patio, back yard are being looked at as well. In fact much is said about CURB APPEAL. That first opinion that everyone tells you about is being (16 comments)
Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County- How To Add Value to Your Home. - 02/10/11 03:14 PM
Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County- How to Add Value to Your Home. Figures from Zillow cited in a recent South Florida Business Journal showed that South Florida Home Values fell 15.4% in 2010 about 10% higher than the national rate. And about 46% of homes sold in December sold for a loss, again just over 10% higher than the national average. Since our peak in 2006, our home values have fallen 54.8%; more than 20% higher than the national average of 27%. It may feel as if your home values are free falling and there's little you can do (14 comments)
Interior Redesign Tips for Palm Beach County- You Owe it to Yourself to Sleep in a Retreat - 02/09/11 08:46 AM
Interior Redesign Tips for Palm Beach County-You Owe it to Yourself to Sleep in a Retreat. You own your own home and have worked hard for it. At the end of the day, don't you deserve your own escape from the rest of the world while you recoup and regenerate? Unless your budget is limitless, most homeowners prefer to first put their efforts into updating or decorating the public rooms of their house... the kitchen and family room or great room. This is understandable for we all have to prioritize where we choose to put our hard-earned money. But why not treat yourself. (22 comments)
There May Be a Reason Your Closet is Full of Black! - 02/08/11 02:53 PM
There may be a reason your closet is full of black. I read an article in STIR by Sherwin-Williams in which it discussed Age-Related Color Bias. Now the information in it is nothing really new or earth shattering but it pointed out that many studies have been conducted that showed an age related color bias when selecting colors for building projects and architectural design. For example, a children's store or children's hospital might have brightly colored walls in yellows, greens or pink. An uptown gallery or restaurant aimed at attracting young adults may have dark colors highlighted or mixed with an (20 comments)
It's already started... my annual withdrawal from football better known in my house as "What are we going to do for the next 6 months?" If I were to be honest, the withdrawal began yesterday, Super Bowl Sunday while there was still several hours of football left. You see, I'm from Texas where if you weren't playing football you were watching it... High School football, college, professional... didn't matter as long as it was football. I remember spending one Saturday going to 2 football games. Thanksgiving Day... a television set in every room.. all turned to... yep... football! When Bud Adams (17 comments)
Interior Redesign Tips for Palm Beach County- Take Your Kitchen into the new Milennium! - 02/05/11 06:13 PM
With Palm Beach County's housing market in the slump for the last few years many homeowners have decided to stay in their home and wait until the market improves before they list their house. Why not use this time to update key areas in your home? As a Professional Home Stager I always ask myself why a homeowner would wait until they try to sell their house to make the improvements that they could have enjoyed while they were living in it. Buyers typically focus on 3 key areas: the kitchen, primary family living area and the master bedroom and bath. (18 comments)
If you're planning on selling your house in Palm Beach County... you really CAN afford to Stage Your House! No more excuses.... Unless you like having strangers walking through and peeking in your closets.... keeping everything model home ready... and not being settled in your new home, then now's the time to get your house sold. But in today's market, it's not enough to put out the For Sale sign, slap on a coat of fresh paint and hope for the best. Your List Price must be competitive and reflect the condition and situation of your house. Your List (17 comments)
