Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County- It's Not Always About Moving Furniture Around! - 03/31/11 09:11 PM
Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County... It's Not Just About Moving Furniture Around!
In Palm Beach County some of my clients are the adult children of owners who have passed on or are moving in with their children.
A Home Staging Consultation can help you decide what projects to undertake that will give you the best return on your investment (ROI).
When I meet with my clients it's important to determine what items will detract or distract a Buyer from focusing on the true potential of the house.
Sometimes it's not so much about the furniture but the stained … (16 comments)

A Home Seller's Bill of Rights - 03/29/11 08:39 PM

Bill and Liz Spear  of Re/Max in Lebanon and Mason Ohio, wrote and excellent post on the Rights of a Home Seller. It's more a list of what the Homeowner is entitled to.  If you are selling your home keep these handy; if you are a Realtor tape them on your mirror and look at it every day and make sure you honor these for your Seller.

NBA Star Alonzo Mourning Caught Directing Traffic! - 03/28/11 06:41 AM
NBA Star and Champion Alonzo Mourning was caught directing traffic in Miami on Friday.  No, the economy may be tight but the former Miami Heat Center does not have a new career!  He was doing something that I wonder if any of us would do.... performing a random act of kindness. This past Friday, Mourning was stopped on a busy street at the traffic light when he noticed a disabled man in a motorized wheelchair waiting to cross the street.  Mourning got out of his car and with long arms outstretched, he stopped traffic so that the man could cross.  After … (19 comments)

Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter Florida... The Perfect Way to Welcome in Spring! - 03/26/11 07:27 AM

Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida is the perfect way to welcome in Spring.   I have to admit I played hooky today with my husband and took in a Spring Training game between the Florida Marlins and the NY Mets.   If you've never been to one of these games and if you're anywhere near Florida or Arizona, give yourself a treat and take in a game. (Hurry... the "real" season begins March 31).
It's an excellent opportunity for true baseball fans (young and old) to see their team up close and personal.  Many of these fans arrive early, baseball gloves … (13 comments)

Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches held their Monthly Lunch On The House Today! - 03/25/11 06:37 AM
Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches  (RAPB) held their Monthly Lunch on the House today!

As part of a service for its members the RAPB holds a Lunch on the House for its members each month.  It's an excellent opportunity to network with other Realtors and to learn something from the varied guest speakers..... attorneys discussing bankruptcy and foreclosure; motivational speakers; mold remediation; the new Real Estate contracts... all good information!

As an Affiliate I benefit because it's my opportunity to interact with Realtors and educate them about Home Staging and my company, Room Service! Home Staging.  … (12 comments)

As Bobby Knight said: "Dumb Loses More Games than Smart Wins." Are You Costing Yourself the Win?" - 03/21/11 11:54 AM
Bobby Knight says: "Dumb Loses More Games than Smart Wins."
I heard this quote over the weekend following #1 seed Pittsburgh's loss to #8 seeded Butler. ( Butler, BTW, of the infamous Killer B's).  Basically a dumb play was made by a smart player.

I thought this made a lot of sense.  This would make a nice blog topic... maybe even post it in the Motivational Mondays group.
But as I began to write... I couldn't quite get it together in my head.  What the H__ is he saying?  I mean I know what he meant when he said … (61 comments)

Pick Three Gold Star Challenge: "I Get By with a Little Help From My Friends!" - 03/20/11 07:27 AM
Craig Daniels has formed a new group, Gold Stars, whose focus is to highlight other ActiveRainers.  I encourage you to take a look and join if you want to become more involved here and if you want to get past the blog and learn about the person behind the blog.
To kick start this group (brilliant idea, BTW), Craig has challenged us to write a post telling us which 3ActiveRainers you would add back first  to your Subscription list if (knock wood) the AR glitch devils somehow wiped out your ActiveRain Subscription list.
As I am a Libra, picking just … (19 comments)

March Madness Means Brackets and Being Stung by the Killer "B's" - 03/18/11 07:02 AM
This is the time of year my husband lives for..... March Madness... The Dance...  Sweet Sixteen.... Elite Eight... and The Final Four!   If you still don't know what this is all about... it's college basketball.
Each year we fill out our brackets, or as Mike & Mike (ESPN) call them... the Sheets of Integrity.   I have been known to fill out 2 but never more than that... it's just too hard to keep up.  In years past, you filled out your bracket, then as the tournament progressed, you would circle your wins or cross out your losses.  By the end of … (14 comments)

Daylight Savings Time... Please... Just Tell Me If It's Time to Be Hungry or Sleepy! - 03/16/11 10:50 AM
Daylight Savings Time- I've struggled with it all of my life!  I don't know about you but this Daylight Savings Time is doing nothing for me in terms of Saving Time and in fact I've lost about 4 hours since this past Sunday!
We have Benjamin Franklin to thank for this scrambling of our Circadian rhythms.  Good old Ben thought we could be more productive and make better use of our resources by using the longer daylight hours.  So around World War I they figured out a way to do this primarily as a means saving much needed fuel (coal)... it … (23 comments)

This Beautifully Updated Boca Raton Condo Needed Just a Little Softening. - 03/15/11 07:41 AM
Room Service! Home Staging was called upon recently to see if adding a little "jewelry" might help their Boca Raton Florida condo sell.  The owners are out of town, so they asked their Realtor to find a home stager and see just what could be done.
This Boca Raton Condo along A1A has beautiful hardwood flooring, and updated Master Bath and custom touches that you just have to see in person.
The condo was furnished but the "softer" touches of a home were with their owners out of state.   Take a look:
The entry was not very inviting and small.  … (28 comments)

Being a Part of the Tree of Life... Isn't It What We Hope to Be? - 03/14/11 03:35 PM
Being a part of the Tree of Life... Isn't it What We Hope to Be?

My husband and I were at DisneyWorld's Animal Kingdom this weekend to meet up with his daughter and her family, which included our two Grandchildren, Hugo and Thatcher.
We stayed with our good friends, Vince and Ann, whom we've known for over 20 years.  We met in Boca Raton when our husbands worked for the same company and by coincidence when we were living in Orlando, they relocated there as well .... again for work.
They are the kind of friends everyone wishes for.  … (13 comments)

Let's Keep those in Japan and anyone along the West Coast in Mind Today. - 03/11/11 07:07 AM
As we wake up and go about our day, let's keep in mind those in Japan and anyone living along the West Coast in our thoughts and prayers today.
The largest earthquake to hit Japan in 100 years hit today which triggered a Tsunami that is said to have been 13 feet high. Tsunami warnings are now in effect for the West Coast including Hawaii.
For our ActiveRain friends who are in these area be safe.

Delray Beach Women's Networking Luncheon- Where Everyone Knows Your Name! - 03/10/11 02:33 PM

Yesterday I attended the Women's Networking Luncheon that meets once amonth.  Just like many of you, I attend various networking lunches, breakfasts, after hours cocktails ... the list goes on.  If you're in business, especially in sales, that's what you do.
Lisa Shaheen has been the  guiding force behind this group.  Besides being President of Ability Glass & Mirror, Lisa is known to us as the Juice Plus lady.  She organizes us and keeps the ball rolling for all of us.  Without her, I don't even know how we'd get together.
However this networking group is different from other formal networking … (11 comments)

Staging the House that Wouldn't Stop otherwise known as the Never-ending House. - 03/08/11 07:13 PM
Staging the House that wouldn't stop..,otherwise known as the Never-ending house.   In a previous post I spoke of my 8000sq foot house that I had the opportunity to stage.  This is the first time I needed two items in my staging kit that I'd not needed before:
Roller Blades and a Walkie Talkie!
This is a beautiful home on a lake in West Boca Raton Fl on a Cul-de-Sac in a gated community.  Unfortunately the tough times have hit all economic ranks and this house is under foreclosure.  Lights and mirrors were removed as well as some of the appliances.

Are You Grabbing a Quick Win and not Focusing on Being a Winner and Winning? - 03/07/11 01:35 PM
Are you grabbing a quick WIN and not focusing on being a WINNER and WINNING?

I love to play word games... you know the ones where you try to see how many words you can make out of jumbled letters.  It's supposed to keep the dendrites firing!  Talk to me in 10 years and I'll let you know if it works.
I was playing WordPop last night, a game similar to Boggle and I was finding all sorts of words.  I was in a hurry and thinking about the Staging I have this afternoon.  Not focusing.
It occurred to … (19 comments)

The Goals We Attain are often Sweeter when they're harder won. - 03/05/11 08:43 PM
I wrote a post about winning after I watched the Nick Nolte movie Blue Chips.  It was more than a basketball movie, and one that showed us the importance of how you play the game. In his closing speech, Nolte's character looks back and recalls his favorite game.  It wasn't the one they had just won with his star players... no it was the one they'd played the year before with average players.  What was so memorable was that these players gave their all and played the best they could.  This is what meant the most and was so memorable  to … (20 comments)

Put your thinking caps on and let's have some fun..... what room is this and how would you stage it? - 03/03/11 09:54 AM
It's time to have some fun and exercise your imagination!
As Stagers, we're always talking about how 90% of Buyers lack the imagination to see how a room or house will live... how a room can be used.  We suggest that Sellers return a room to its original purpose.  For example, many homeowners have turned their dining rooms into home offices or playrooms for their children or, sadly, both.  When we go in, we suggest they "stage" it as a dining room so that Buyers will be able to see it as such.
So,  take a look at the room below... … (39 comments)
