Delray Beach- Rain,Civility, and Sun.

The rains that we had this week were less than last week so perhaps we’ve settled into our usual summer afternoon thunderboomers.

In the mornings, the ocean was like glass, which was just right for the paddle boarders, but not so much for the kite boarders.

We’ve been needing rain in South Florida but we didn’t expect to get our June average in 1 week! Some areas had over 10 inches of rain.

Delray Beach- Graduation Time

This is the time of year when many will be taking the next step in the adventure known as life.  Some will go to high school, others will be leaving the security of high school and all of the friends they’ve known for perhaps all of their lives, and then there are those embarking on a career or even more school when they graduate from college.

What a busy week!  Thursday we had an informal ActiveRain Meetup up in Palm Beach Gardens.  We met Joe Pryor and his lovely wife, Charlene, and had to opportunity to see old friends- Donald Urschalitz, Mark Loewenberg, who brought new agent and member Neil Archer, Eileen Burns and Elyse Berman.

Their trip got off to a rocky short because just when they were leaving a stray cat got into Steve’s man-cave and wouldn’t come out.  They left it there, knowing that a friend would be by to check on the other cats.  Food and water were left daily and replenished and no harm seemed to have been done.

It may seem a bit ludicrous to talk about spring coming while we sit here in Florida with our flip-flops on but Monday, March 20, is the first day of spring!

Mother Nature, in her infinite wisdom, decided to give those of us in the land of 80-degree weather a reminder of just why we moved here. This past week we awoke to temperatures in the 50’s.

Delray Beach- A Windy Week

Living in Florida, we pay attention to the weather to see how hot it will be, how humid it will be or if there is rain in the forecast, and how windy it will be.
Now you may wonder why on earth we are concerned with the wind but Florida = water activities and wind can determine whether or not you will be taking part in those water activities.

Delray Beach- Clouds...and Lots of Them

Every day at the beach is different.  Yes there’s sand and yes, there’s the ocean.  But everything else changes daily. The skies may be grey and open up with wind and rain. And on some there is not a cloud in the sky.

And on some of those lucky days, we are offered clouds.

Delray Beach- Staying Positive

What a week!  Don’t laugh but we were cold this week!  We awoke to temps in the mid to high 50’s!  Everyone we passed on our walks at the beach was bundled up and excited to have some cool temps.
