Delray Beach- Champions

March Madness is getting intense.  We are now down to the Elite Eight.  And tonight, we’ll find out if the Jayhawks will make it into the Final Four.

I marvel at all of the athletes... to be able to pull it all together in front of thousands.  Yes, I know this is what they train and practice for but it’s not just that, it’s their mindset.

Delray Beach...Spring is Here!

It may seem a bit ludicrous to talk about spring coming while we sit here in Florida with our flip-flops on but Monday, March 20, is the first day of spring!

Mother Nature, in her infinite wisdom, decided to give those of us in the land of 80-degree weather a reminder of just why we moved here. This past week we awoke to temperatures in the 50’s.

Delray Beach - Springing Ahead to March Madness

Just as my body clock had recovered from Falling Back, it now has to Spring Ahead.  If you’re reading this on Saturday, don’t forget to adjust whatever electronic and non-Cyber connected gadgets you have.

If you’re not reading this until Sunday, I hope you sprang forward yesterday.  If not, shut your computer...you’re probably running late!

Delray Beach- A Windy Week

Living in Florida, we pay attention to the weather to see how hot it will be, how humid it will be or if there is rain in the forecast, and how windy it will be.
Now you may wonder why on earth we are concerned with the wind but Florida = water activities and wind can determine whether or not you will be taking part in those water activities.

Years ago before we would go fishing or diving, we’d look out the window to see if our flag was blowing. We determined early in our boating efforts … (36 comments)

Delray Beach- Clouds...and Lots of Them

Every day at the beach is different.  Yes there’s sand and yes, there’s the ocean.  But everything else changes daily. The skies may be grey and open up with wind and rain. And on some there is not a cloud in the sky.

And on some of those lucky days, we are offered clouds.

And from the midst of cheerless gloom
I passed to bright unclouded day.

We were treated to some much needed rain on Wednesday and on Thursday, I couldn’t take enough pictures of the beautiful clouds that were left behind.

Delray Beach- Friends

We’ve had a week of beautiful weather in Delray Beach.  It was hard trying to stay inside, so when we could we were at the beach walking or out at Green Cay.

Delray Beach...Leading Up to the Big Heart Day

We have been blessed with absolutely gorgeous weather this past week.  So much so that it’s been hard to stay indoors. The big red hearts have been up on the street lights along Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach for a few weeks.

Delray Beach- Staying Positive

What a week!  Don’t laugh but we were cold this week!  We awoke to temps in the mid to high 50’s!  Everyone we passed on our walks at the beach was bundled up and excited to have some cool temps.

Finally, the kind of weather that warranted homemade chili or soup!
Finally, weather cool enough for some of our “winter” clothes.
Finally a chance to order a cup of hot chocolate and not feel guilty.

Delray Beach- A Tragic Start to the New Year

What I planned to write about went out the door with Friday’s shooting at the Ft Lauderdale Airport.  I can’t even begin to comprehend what happened.

Delray Beach- A New Year

This is trite, I know, but where did 2016 go?  It’s been a busy week
in Delray Beach because not only is it The Season but it’s the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
You can always gauge how cold it is up north by how crowded the beach gets.
It doesn’t matter, though, because it just makes it more festive.

Delray Beach- Merry Hanukkah, Happy Christmas and More Pecan Pie, Please.

It is Christmas Eve and the first night of Hanukkah.  Whatever you celebrate, and even if you don’t I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah.

By the way, if you want to wish me a Happy Hanukkah, I will not be insulted, and by the same token, if someone wishes you Merry Christmas, please don’t take it as an insult.

Delray Beach- A Wedding, A Parade, and More

What a week!  Why is it that the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas seems to get shorter and shorter each year!

Last weekend we got to see an early morning wedding at the beach.  We didn’t want to get too close out of respect for their privacy but don’t you think the beach is a beautiful spot for a wedding.

It had been drizzling most of the weekend and I was concerned that it would keep some people away from the annual Christmas Parade but that was not the case! It was fun seeing the … (30 comments)

Delray Beach- Thanksgiving Weekend

We have had absolutely gorgeous Thanksgiving week weather. Earlier in the week, we had some cool (for us) mornings but that didn’t last long.
The beaches have been full and Atlantic Avenue bustling with visitors and students home from school.

The Turkey Trot was held last Saturday and it was well attended.  Not only that, some managed to trot and get dressed up!

Thankful for My Morning Beach Walks…

This is a bit of a departure from my usual Saturday Delray Beach posts.  Debbie Reynolds  has asked us to share what we’re thankful for in the 10 Day Thanksgiving  Post Challenge.

Not a day goes by when I am thankful for my morning walks along the beach.  We try to get there just before the sun rises, however, the time change and late nights watching football sometimes means the sun has already made its entrance.

Delray Beach- Time Change or Change of Time…

Delray Beach-  A Week of MeetUps and Getting Ready for Halloween
It’s been a busy week with two ActiveRain MeetUps and there’s so much going on this Halloween Weekend.
On Tuesday, we were in Broward County at Kaluz on the Intracoastal for a MeetUp hosted by Eileen Burns.

And on Thursday, we had our MeetUp here in Delray Beach at Deck 84.
